Learning through Play

WORK IN  PROGRESS

What is play?

Play is defined as ‘children’s behaviour which is freely chosen, personally directed and intrinsically motivated. It is performed for no external goal or reward and is a fundamental and integral part of healthy development which seeks to improve play experiences for all children.’ (National Strategy for Play, Scottish Government, 2013)

In King’s Oak we are developing the curriculum and our approach to learning and teaching through play based classrooms in P1. We have been developing our learning environments (classrooms) to be creative,  interesting and a place to be curious, have fun and ask questions to support our learning!

Please click the link (***to be inserted) to see an example of our learning environment.
