Physics Central – for everyone supporting physics teaching: Forces

These sessions are designed for those who in any way support others teaching physics. Whether you are your school’s only physics teacher having prep-room chats with colleagues, a head of physics running formal coaching or someone who facilitates CPD more broadly you will be very welcome at our Physics Central sessions.
Topic by topic, David Farley, Sue Woolhouse, Eleanor Wylie and the rest of the team will discuss the common misconceptions and teaching challenges of each topic. Ideas and best practice in coaching physics will be discussed and we’ll also have a closer look at how the most recent education research relates to physics teaching and learning. There will be discussion and demonstrations of tried and tested strategies to support other colleagues less confident in physics.
Physics Central sessions will provide an opportunity to network and share ideas, helping to build a stronger physics community.
Note: If you are still building your confidence with a topic, you may find it best to review the appropriate DOMAINS videos on IOPSpark beforehand. If you are not a physics specialist, it might be best to look at other programmes of support such as the Subject Knowledge sessions run by The Ogden Trust and Planet Possibility online sessions instead.
