Within Largs EYC, we provide workshops to support our parents/carers with their child’s learning and development.
As part of my responsibility as the Literacy Co-ordinator I have helped to set up workshops to support parents and children with their Literacy skills. During the workshop we set out various experiences to allow parents/carers to get a flavour of the different activities that we offer within the centre. As part of our planning within the nursery we follow Curriculum for Excellence Literacy guidelines. This covers a range of areas including listening & attention, rhyming, syllables, mark making and initial sounds. We prepare activities tailored around these areas for parents to gain a better understanding of what we do at Largs EYC to support their child’s literacy development.
During the workshops, we invite the children to join their parents to participate in some of the literacy experiences on offer. This part of the workshop is always enjoyed by both children and parents.
Take a look at some of the feedback from parents/carers that have attended these workshops:
If you have any questions regarding your child’s literacy development or require any support with his please do not hesitate to ask your child’s keyworker or Gemma, the literacy co-ordinator.
