Outdoor Play

At LEYC children can access outdoors daily, the only time outdoors wouldn’t be accessible is if there was weather warnings. We have waterproof suits and welly boots for all children to access outdoors. We also have a range of hats and gloves kindly knitted for us by people at the ‘Cameron Centre’. All children wear a Hi Vis vest when outdoors. Outdoor learning is an important part of the curriculum and provides children with an opportunity to develop their physical skills, confidence and the ability to take and manage risks in a safe environment.

Children have the opportunity to visit the woods (Inverclyde forest), many local parks, the library, beaches,  School trim trail and MUGA (sports ground)  and other places in the community. Having these opportunities allows the children to develop their understanding of the world and the roles people play in the community.  SIMOA will join us on our outings to help the children learn how to keep themselves and others safe and identify potential risks and how to avoid these. All children wear a hi-vis vest on outings.
