Over the last 4 weeks our planning within the room has focused on the following outcomes:
Health and Well-being – I am aware of and able to express my feelings and I am developing the ability to talk about them. I am learning ways to manage my emotions.
Numeracy and Mathematics – I can match objects and sort using my own and others criteria.
I can share out a group of objects and can split a whole object into smaller parts.
Literacy and English – I describe an object/picture using suitable vocabulary/ I know the difference between numbers and letters/I explore letter sounds.
Here are some experiences the children have been joining in with to support their learning:

Today we had a very special visit from the ‘Cycling Without Age’ team. The children each had a turn on Gordon’s three-wheel cycle with a passenger cab at the front that is motor assisted. Gordon made this a fun experience shouting out directions, going fast then slow as well as asking the children to shout ‘stop’ and the ‘go’ when they were ready.
The Cycling Without Age team help people to get out into nature and regain social connection. Their work also helps to build bridges between generations and reinforces trust, respect and community. The volunteers and passengers alike enjoy the physical and emotional well-being benefits.

Thanks Jenny and Gordon 😃

Throughout the month of March we had a focus on ‘LGBT Awareness’ linking with linking with the UNCRC Articles 2 ‘All children have these rights no matter what their differences are’ and Article 13 ‘I have the right to find out and share information’.
Some experiences we carried our to support this:

Children who attend a Friday afternoon have just completed a 6 week block of football lessons with Shaun from Greenock Morton Football Club Community Arm. The children have learnt some different skills such as dribbling, catching and learning to stop a ball with their foot. The children really engaged with these sessions and thought Shaun was quite funny. The children were delighted to receive a certificate at the end of the block.
Morton run a football club/sessions called ‘Micro Morton’ aimed at 2-5 year olds. For more information or if your interested in signing your child up click the link: https://www.myclub-hub.com/organisations/277/hosted/programmes/1926

Gemma and Shannon ran a literacy workshop for our families. The workshop provided ideas and top tips for parents around different areas of literacy. Children were able to join their families to try some different literacy based activities and join in with a Bookbug session.
We were lucky to have some of the P6 pupils from Largs Primary come down to the nursery and read the children some stories and join in play with the children.

Our families joined in with a fun family challenge. Take a picture with your favourite story in a funny, cosy or most interesting place that you like to listen to your story.
