PATHS

Here is Julie explaining what the PATHS program is.

Paths Leaflet

At Largs EYC we implement the PATHS programme. The programme is currently being used across North Ayrshire to support children’s Health and Wellbeing. This nurture based programme has been designed to meet the well-being needs of the children with links to the Curriculum for Excellence, Building the Ambition and the UNCRC. PATHS will be delivered on a weekly basis as small group activity with your child’s key worker. The children will be introduced to a variety of experiences based around supporting –

  1. Emotional understanding – recognising and naming feelings and emotions.
  2. Self-control – building confidence and resilience.
  3. Social problem solving – working alongside and sharing with our friends.
  4. Peer relations and self-esteem –building communication skills and confidence.

We have 2 new lovely characters to introduce to you all;

SIMOA– Our Safety inspector elephant.

Safety.Inspect.Monitor.Observe.Act

Monty– Our inclusive ambassador to help us learn about how our brains all work differently.

Our new inclusive ambassador is a wonderful friendly way to teach our children about inclusion, empathy, and respect for diversity.

By promoting safety and inclusivity in our PATHS programme we are creating supportive environments where children can not only thrive but learn about and uphold their rights. The UNCRC emphasises children’s rights to safety, education, equality and participation:

Article 6- The right to develop;
A safe and inclusive environment fosters all aspects of a child’s development – physical, emotional, cognitive, and social. This supports every child’s overall right to develop to their full potential.

Please see the PATHS leaflet to follow for further information and should you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact your key worker for more details.
