Box Office Bioethics: Calling all young film-makers!

The Nuffield Council on Bioethics is delighted to announce the opening of our film competition Box Office Bioethics, inviting budding filmmakers to explore ethical issues in biology and medicine – and get creative!

The competition is open to students in the UK and Republic of Ireland in the following categories:

  • Year 11 and under / S4 and under
  • Year 12 and 13 / S5 and S6
  • Undergraduate

Last year’s competitors tackled topics including public health, GM crops, abortion and organ donation. This year we hope to see even more aspiring producers getting behind the camera. Films should be 3 to 5 minutes long and can be about any bioethics topic providing it falls within the biological and medical sciences and the ethical issues are clearly presented and explored in the film.

There are some great prizes up for grabs – winners will receive £200 in gift vouchers and their film will be shown at the Council’s annual public lecture in London in spring 2013.

The competition is now open and the deadline for entries is 28 February 2013.
