A very busy week for P5b

Everyone in the class worked very hard this week and have produced a lot of work. In mathematics we have been concentrating on learning about Time intervals and dividing large numbers. Many of the students have made a good effort to learn the multiplication tables as this is a great advantage when completing division sums.
We are writing a short story about an Alien and this is going very well with detailed descriptions of a planet in a far away galaxy. P5b have drawn some great illustrations to help them describe this unknown planet. Our PATHS lesson involved listening to a partner. With STEM everyone is enjoying the Weather activities.

Award ceremony

Ollie and Rosie-Joy performed their last duty as JRSO for Wallacewell this year. They went to the star awards and received a gold star award for their video about road safety. Well done!

P5b

P5b have been working very hard to improve our story plans and write an interesting opening paragraph. The spelling test results are improving with many pupils achieving full marks. We are now learning about division and developing different strategies to complete the division problems.

We are having some coaching in PE about fitness and cooperation . We all enjoyed the session.

P5b

This week, multiplication was good because we really enjoyed it and it was kind of difficult but we manage to finish it.
In PE, we did badminton, it was fun and we enjoyed that we played in teams 2v2 against our partner’s.
In Language(Literacy),the setting and character was really enjoyable. It was good because we made our own characters and settings.
STEM was fun and crazy that we did experiments with the coke, Alka seltzer, mentos, vinegar and Bicarbonate of soda and at the end we tried to mixed t all together but the bicarbonate of soda was the only one that made the coke push up and the others didn’t make a push.
In French, we did French days of the week continuing from Monday to Thursday to Sunday we watched at the start before we did the jotter work, Mr Innes teaches us to learn the rest of the days of the week.
In math, time was good because it was easy and the challenge was kind of difficult that we need to explain our answers why? but we managed it.
In reading, the jobs was kind of difficult to manage like the summarisers that we need to do who, what, why, when, where.

JRSO at ASDA

This week we went to ASDA and we left school during lunch time. Then we started walking up the path on the hill . When we got to the lights we waited for a minute there standing . Then we walked across the road looking left and right . When we got to the other side we where there at ASDA . We met the road safety officers in Glasgow named Chris and Holly. They gave us some road safety bags to give to people for free and we  gave them out fast. We set a record for 10 minutes so for our good work we got a flash light . Chris is the one who gave them to us .Holly was checking up on us when we were giving the road safety bags. We got back to school and went back to class.

We have been very busy talking to all the classes about walking 🚶 to school if possible. Next week we will give out badges.
Now it is getting dark we need to start getting everyone to think about wearing brightly coloured jackets 🧥 to school.

This week in P.E. we were doing badminton We partnered up with our friends to start the lesson we did balancing the shuttlecock then we did partners against another pair to end the lesson🏸
In maths we learned a new method of multiplication called the box method.
When we did literacy we were doing a setting description that was spooky Halloween themed 🎃 👻.
At S.T.E.M we had the options of puppets , experiment, submarines and a Lego map.
Finally in PATHS we are designing calm down posters and doing scenarios where the group has to work together to decide an emotion for it🤝.

Busy week

Although this was the last week of the term P5b have been very busy. We all enjoyed learning outdoors weeding the plant pots , clearing the beds , adding to compost bin and adding more wood and moss to our bug hotel. Furthermore, the children pulled the choking grass away from our young fruit trees. Our photographs show how much everyone enjoyed the experience!

Our theme is Changes when we learn through activities in our Creative Enquiry Room. Some changed a well known story. Others changed bottles into submarines! Plans were made to change things around the school and lastly a few designed new outfits, including a new P.E. Kit. On Thursday afternoon P5 celebrated the end of our Roman topic, sampling some food , eating sitting on the floor as the Romans did. Your children have made a good start to their 1st term in P5

P5b

This week in the class did money and subtraction for maths.
When we did topic we were doing the Roman army and how they lived.
At P.E we did netball on the school pitch because it was a nice day every team played fairly with each other and everyone had a chance to get the ball.
In writing we watched a video about the Roman army for a piece of persuasive writing.
Then we had our paths time a visitor came to speak about the steps of calming down.
We did our Roman topic some people did a timeline, menus and drawing Roman soldiers.

Working hard in P5b

Primary 5B have been learning to use different strategies to add increasingly larger numbers. They worked with a partner and individually completed some jotter work to learn.

P5b used many skills to create something that could make a journey. On Thursday it was terrific to enjoy a PE lesson outdoors.
