Digital Learning Week at St Albert’s

“This week for Digital learning week, the Primary 7s taught the P2s how to make a pixilated movie. We taught them their roles and what they were doing, so like the cameraperson and the movement co-ordinators. Pixilation is when you take separate pictures, but when you play the video it looks like one big video that you just make without using the recording feature. It involves small shuffling steps. The P2s picked what story they wanted to do and what they wanted to be in the movie. The app that we used was called “Stopmotion”.

We were taught about this app from Mr. Stewart, following a visit from DFieFoe, a film company who we helped create a pixilated movie for the 2018 European Sports Championships.

We wore these awesome, colourful hoodies as part of the video production. We really wanted to keep them as they were SO cosy!

We’ve not yet made the video for our paper cinema, but we are planning and getting the ideas written down. The paper cinema is about creating scenes from a movie, creating your own music and sound effects, and not speaking or using direct text. Here’s a link to their website, that gives you more info on how it works;

We are using key scenes from the movie “Wonder” to inspire us. We have different responsibilities in our teams; sound and lighting technician, illustrators, musicians and visuals and movement co-ordinators.”

We are also going to have a Skype conversation later on Friday morning to show our e-twinning school in Barcelona our fantastic Migration movie. Hopefully they will really enjoy it!
