One of our focuses for this term is learning about the language of debate and being able to provide evidence and reasons for our opinions. Creating an argument is about more than just shouting loudly!

We have the English Speaking Union working with us on Fridays this term to help us to understand the roles and language involved in debating. 

Louisa, our debating coach, has introduced us to:

• motions
• proposition
• opposition

We had our first mini-debate on Friday on whether immigration should be allowed?

Irfan astounded us all on the opposition when he said:

“You might think we are a rich country but we have an NHS crisis at the moment, we have to pay to leave the EU and the pound is dropping!”

We all think he might be the next Chancellor of the Exchequer!
