24 reasons to make Mrs Brightman smile!

Maths – Probability

We have moved onto a new area of maths in our lessons. It’s called probability. We talked about words we use to describe how likely events are to happen. Things like:

  • impossible – e.g. It’s impossible for Zainab to drive her dad’s car this afternoon!
  • unlikely – e.g. Mrs Harker is unlikely to close the school tomorrow and give us all another week’s holiday
  • 50-50 – e.g. Mrs Brightman’s baby had an equal chance of being a boy or a girl (although we now know it’s a girl!)
  • likely – e.g. Mrs Brightman is likely to make us work hard today!
  • definite – e.g. Today is Monday so tomorrow will definitely be Tuesday.

We have learned to play a game based on probability that used to be on the TV called ‘Play your Cards Right’ – look at this video:
