Queens Park Trip

Our Girls football club had the chance last week to go to Hampden Park Stadium the home of Scottish football and Queens Park FC to meet a ex professional woman’s Scotland international football Suzanne Winters and have a tour of the stadium and a woman’s football history tour of the Scottish football Musemu. Thanks to Queens Park FC for Setting it up for our Girls.

They had a great tour getting to see the Bus tunnel, changing rooms, warm up area, the tunnel and pitch side to see where the teams sit, before lifting the Scottish (Cardboard) Cup.

We had a Q&A with Suzanne Winters an Ex Scotland Player with 105 Caps and got to ask all the important questions Like Ronaldo or Messi and how many goals did you score in one game.

The girls got some great incite into how to be a good professional and what struggles that She faced when she was younger.

A great day was had by all and a big thank you to Queens Park FC, Scotland and Suzanne Winters for having us along for the day. It was great Fun.

Last week St Alberts held our first House tournament of the year. A 5 and 7 aside football round robin tournament. Games were played on the muga and watched by the participating classes.

First set of games were P2( Fire) , P2/3 (Wind), P3(Earth). After each team had played our winners of the infant round robin was P2/3 (Wind)

Next up was the middle school P4(Wind), P4/5 (Earth), P5 (Fire). After some close games the winners of this section was P5(Fire)

And last but not least was the upper school round robin of P6(Earth), P6/7(Fire), P7(Wind). After another smashing set of games the winners were P6/7(Fire) coming away with the points.

Big thank you to everyone who played, supported and helped organise our first tournament of the school year. There was some awesome footballing skills on show over the last week congrats to you all.

Euro Finals

After a great week of football and even better set of Group games it was time to find out who will be the overall winners and take on our teachers.

The teams that made it though to the Semi finals were P6 Ukraine vs P6/7 and Class 2 Germany and in the other semi final it was P7 Poland vs P6 Czech Republic.

Both Semi Finals were hotly contested but our teams that made it through were both from P6 to set up a Final game of P6 Ukraine vs  P6 Czech Republic.

It was a cagey affair but in the end the P6 Ukraine team came out winners 2-1 with a last second free kick save to win our tournament and set themselves up for a prize game against the Teachers! Well done everyone who took part! and Well done team Ukraine!!! We will be seeing you on the pitch soon!!!

The Journey to the Final Begin

Our St Albert’s Euro journey has begun! The first set of games have been played and We have had some comeback and surprise but a lot of fun along the way!

The P6 Group was the first to get off to a flyer with goals in all the games. No boring nil nil’s in this euro competition.

P7 Group were next and it was the group of the comebacks, 3 teams went from losing positions to comeback and win the game in 3 different games. Excellent work.

P6/7 and Class 2 Group were our last and once again we had lots of goals. A great effort and great performances from this group.

All of our group matches started with a Knee for the fight against racism as our classes have been learning about the No Room For Racism campaign on the lead up to our euros.

Big thank you to all our classes for your great efforts so far and I hope you all had fun!!! Soon we will find out who our winners are and their big prize is they will get to face off in a match against our teachers!!!
