The Journey to the Final Begin

Our St Albert’s Euro journey has begun! The first set of games have been played and We have had some comeback and surprise but a lot of fun along the way!

The P6 Group was the first to get off to a flyer with goals in all the games. No boring nil nil’s in this euro competition.

P7 Group were next and it was the group of the comebacks, 3 teams went from losing positions to comeback and win the game in 3 different games. Excellent work.

P6/7 and Class 2 Group were our last and once again we had lots of goals. A great effort and great performances from this group.

All of our group matches started with a Knee for the fight against racism as our classes have been learning about the No Room For Racism campaign on the lead up to our euros.

Big thank you to all our classes for your great efforts so far and I hope you all had fun!!! Soon we will find out who our winners are and their big prize is they will get to face off in a match against our teachers!!!

St Albert’s Euro’s

Now that we are in the lead up to the Euro 2020 finals, St Albert’s will be taking part in a Euros of their own. Our upper school classes have all been split into 4 teams in each class and  have hand picked a Country for a hat. These will now be their countries that they will learn about and take part as the tournament goes on.

Our Groups are : P6 Group ( Czech republic, Ukraine, Switzerland, Hungary)

P7 Group ( Croatia, Poland, Finland, Denmark)

P6/7 & Class 2 Group ( Germany, Slovakia, Wales, Portugal)

Each Country will have skill sessions prior to the full finals and matches in June for the start of the really Euros competition.

Our Idea for our Euros is to have more children, being more active, more often and also to have lots of fun!

Cricket Scotland

Like to give a big thank you to Cricket Scotland for coming in and working with our Primary 7s. We are lucky enough to have Cricket Scotland in for 8 weeks this term to work on our batting, catching and fielding skills.

Our end goal with Cricket this term is to be able to have a full proper game of cricket set up by our P7s by the end of this term. Our Primary 7s have really enjoyed the first few sessions and we have found some future star batters and fielders in the making too.

After School Clubs

After a long couple of terms we finally have after school clubs back!!!!

What a great feeling it is to get back to normal and get our kids out and about. For just now all clubs are outside and will make the best of the weather till summer.

We have a range of clubs going on from football and basketball to gardening and outdoor cooking clubs.

Week 1 went well even though the weather wasn’t always great but hopefully will be get better in the coming weeks.

Those who have come to the clubs hope you have had fun and cant wait for more till summer comes!

New Sports Captains

I would like to say a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to our New Sports Captains Ibrar (P6/7), Aleeza (P6/7) and Hamza (P7) who were elected and chosen on Friday.

I also want to say BIG well done and thank you to Everyone who took part in the interviews and to our school captains who took on the responsibility of conducting the interviews and choosing who they thought would be best for the role of sports captains.

Slackline Fun

This week we had a new addition to the schools health and wellbeing equipment. A new slackline with some climbing obstacles to go along with it.

Our new ninja line has been getting tested out by some of our class 2 pupils over the last few days as Me and Miss Cohen work out to secure it in High enough and safe place for classes for some safe climbing fun for classes.

Our Class 2 testers said it was good fun though!!!

Class 2 Karate

This term Class 2 are brushing up their Karate skills with Duncan. Previously before Covid-19 the Class used to work with David from Satori Karate so you can imagine the excitement in class 2 when it was announced that Duncan would be coming for karate this term.

I have to say none of the class have missed a step since their last session all the way back in March showing excellent power and technique in both their controlled kicking and punching. Perfect striking the hand pads quickly and effectively as well. I was very impressed with the enthusiasm and energy for everyone.

The hand pad boxing part of karate is great exercise that we can do in small spaces to help not only improve karate technique but also improve cardiovascular endurance too. Duncan will be back with Class 2 again on Friday for more fun exercises to help the class keep improving their fitness and technique.

Active Schools Term 2

Our Active schools co-ordinator Ivonne is back again this term and she’s working with our Infant department teaching them Orienteering skills. Our classes are so lucky to have Ivonne coming in every week to work with a few classes. This week it was Primary 2/3 and 3 who were showing off their skills.

Both classes were so good they actually got two different games each with Ivonne which impressed me, both teachers and Ivonne. So a big well done to both classes and we will see even again soon.

Virtual Great Scottish Run Part 3

Part 3 of our Virtual Great Scottish run today and Both of our P6 and P6/7 have smashed the 96 mile trek on the West Highland way! Both classes recorded over 100 miles over the 2 week period. So massive well done to all who took part.

Active school were so impressed they have sent us a celebration video for completing the event and both our classes have made it into the video. See if you can spot them in the video below. Once again a MASSIVE WELL DONE!!!!
