Glasgow Schools Ski Championships

We are delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a select group of pupils from King’s Park Secondary School to take part in the Greater Glasgow & Clyde Schools Ski Race Competition. This fantastic event will take place on Friday 5th June 2026 at Glasgow Ski Centre, Bellahouston Park.

This competition brings together young skiers from across the Glasgow area, offering pupils the chance to represent KPSS in a fun, supportive, and competitive environment while further developing their skiing skills.

Event Overview
Participants will compete as individuals while also earning points for King’s Park Secondary School. The competition format includes:

  • Two timed runs on a Slalom course
  • Two timed runs on a Giant Slalom (GS) course
  • Final results based on the best run from each discipline combined

Who Can Take Part?
This event is open to confident skiers who are Level 4 or above and capable of skiing parallel and independently down the main slope.

Parents and carers are very welcome to attend and support our young people on the evening. If transport arrangements are an issue, please get in touch with the school and we will do our best to assist.

Cost and Registration
The cost to participate is £20, which should be submitted as soon as possible to secure a place in the competition.

This is a wonderful opportunity for pupils to challenge themselves, represent the school with pride, and enjoy an exciting sporting experience.
See Mrs Ferguson if you would like to take part, if you have any questions or would like further information.

We look forward to seeing our pupils hit the slopes and represent KPSS! And hopefully, this could mark just the beginning of our KP Ski Race Team!

February Payment

Dear Parent/Carer,

Thank you for paying the £80 deposit to secure your child’s place on the King’s Park Secondary ski trip.

This is a reminder that the next payment milestone is due on 27th February. The amount due is £160, which will bring the total paid to £240. All payments should be made via ParentPay
Please ensure you are following the payment schedule issued in the initial letter, rather than the instalment breakdown shown on ParentPay. The ParentPay system was limited to six instalments; however, we intentionally structured the trip payments into smaller stages to help families spread the cost.

If you wish to pay off the trip more quickly than the scheduled milestones, you are very welcome to do so.

If you are unsure of the agreed payment schedule, it can be viewed on the Ski Trip website.

If you are unable to meet this milestone, please contact me directly at gw15JackDavid@glow.sch.uk to let me know when you will be able to make the payment.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards,
David Jack

Ski Trip 2026 Launch Event

Thank you to all the pupils who attended the Ski Trip 2026 launch event. It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout, with over 50 pupils in attendance, and there was a real buzz of excitement throughout the session. The enthusiasm shown for the trip was brilliant and reflects just how much interest there is in what promises to be an unforgettable experience.

At the launch event, pupils were issued with an information letter and an initial expression of interest slip. Families who would like their child to be considered for a place on the trip should ensure that the return slip is signed by a parent/carer and returned to Mr Jack, either directly or via the school office, no later than Friday 23rd January.

A reminder that S1 pupils who sign up for the Italy trip will not be eligible for the Holland trip which is being launched in August/September by Ms McTaggart.

Once all expressions of interest have been collected, places on the trip will be allocated at random, while also ensuring an appropriate balance across year groups and gender. A reserve list will also be created.

Once the lists have been published, pupils can confirm their place on the trip by paying the £80 deposit. Deposits will be collected via ParentPay, with the initial payment due by Friday 13th February. Should any pupils withdraw at this stage, places will then be offered to pupils on the reserve list.

Please note that a place on the trip is not secured until the deposit has been received.

Families are encouraged to explore this website to find out more about the trip, including information from previous years. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me via the Contacts page.

The presentation shown to pupils at the launch event is available below and can also be downloaded from the Letters page.
