P1a Curriculum Newsletter – Term 4 2025-26
The sun has been shining brightly this week, and it has made the perfect backdrop for all the exciting learning happening in our classroom!
One of our highlights has been keeping time to samba music with the help of our wonderful music tutor. The children have loved feeling the rhythm, moving to the beat, and experiencing the joyful energy of samba. We even watched short extracts from the movie Rio to help us imagine what a real samba festival in Brazil is like — full of colour, movement, and celebration.
As part of our topic, we’ve been exploring the parts of a plant and the children have created some beautiful artwork to show their understanding. Alongside this, our bean plants are busily sprouting on the windowsill. Some beans have shot up incredibly quickly, while others seem to be taking their time — giving us plenty to talk about as we observe and compare their growth each day.
Maths has been filled with hands-on exploration. We’ve been learning about halves of shapes, experimenting with folding and cutting to see what equal parts really mean. The children have also begun exploring multiplication and division by grouping objects equally — a great foundation for the concepts we’ll be building on in the coming weeks.
