This week, Primary 1 have been learning all about our community as part of our topic Wallacewell. We explored and discussed some familiar local landmarks, including Wallace’s Well, the nearby monument, Hogganfield Loch, and Robroyston Park. Many children were excited to recognise these places from their own family visits and enjoyed sharing their experiences.
In maths, we have been developing our understanding of multiplication by exploring repeated addition. The children used Numicon to demonstrate their thinking and worked brilliantly to make clear visual representations. We also began looking at division, practising how to share amounts equally.
In literacy, we wrote step-by-step instructions for planting a seed, using time-order words and clear sequencing. The class can now confidently name the different parts of a plant and explain what plants need to grow.
Hopefully the sun will make an appearance this weekend so everyone can enjoy a relaxing break, ready to start afresh next week!
