Chefs in the making!

Some pupils from the Caledonian Centre had the pleasure of going to Tony Macaroni in East Kilbride.

They enjoyed making their own pizzas starting from simply a ball of dough and then selecting their own toppings.  After devouring their pizzas, they all enjoyed some ice cream.  Thank you to all the team at Tony Macaroni at St James Retail Park, East Kilbride.

Everyone was made feel very welcome and enjoyed this experience very much.

Sporting Success

We have had more sporting success recently with Grace McDermott (S2, Lewis) becoming Scottish Champion in her category in Acro Gymnastics. Well done and good luck to Grace and her partner Summer at the British in May.

It was also sporting success for Eva Bremner (S2, Lewis) who won several awards in Dance at the Scottish Freestyle championships. Eva took silver for solo, bronze for rock n’ roll, bronze for “boogey wooogey” and her team took overall 1st too. Congratulations to Eva!

The group presented their business plan for a swap shop to support those in need of uniform or clothes for summer and successfully gained £100!!!

Well Done to everyone who attended and to the team for working on the presentation, jingle and pitch!

KP Swap Shop will start up soon!

We have both in person sessions in school and online sessions which are provided online by e-sgoil.

Please encourage your child to sign up and attend.

SQA – Your Guide to exams

All S4 -S6 pupils should read the SQA Guide to your exams, following the link. This is available in digital format only.  We strongly encourage our young people to read this guide as it has valuable information in it regarding SQA exams.

Please see Mrs Kelly if you have any questions.

Attendance Matters Every Day

Every school day makes a difference. By making sure your child goes to school every day, you’re helping them build a bright future and reach their full potential.

What supports do we offer if you or your child need help getting into school?

Your first point of contact for support regarding any concerns over attendance is your child’s Pupil Support Teacher. They will work in partnership with young people and parents/carers to create and implement a plan to support young people to attend school.

Rights Respecting Schools – GOLD!

In February,  UNICEF visited our school for accreditation to the Rights Respecting Schools Award. Just last week we have had it confirmed that we have been successful in being awarded our GOLD Rights Respecting Schools Award. This is quite an achievement so well done to our full school community for putting children’s rights at the forefront of everything we do!

Special thanks to Miss Mussen, the staff and the large groups of young people involved! We will celebrate more later in the session along with a celebration of our school values too.

It is important we continue to learn about, understand and live through Children’s rights as a GOLD school. Participation, pupil voice, fairness, dignity and excellence in education remain the articles most important to us a school on our school charter.

International Women’s Day in French!

Today our S3 French pupils were looking at expressing ideas in French abut International women’s day. The young people were able to further develop their vocabulary through using their dictionary skills before working collaboratively to research a woman who they found to be inspiring and who has had an impact on society.
