Law Society of Scotland – Virtual Summer School

We are pleased to be running our Virtual Summer School again this year. This programme offers students interested in studying law the opportunity to learn more about the subject and ask questions about legal careers.

This year, rather than running the Summer School over four consecutive days, sessions will take place across four mornings over two separate weeks:

  • Monday 8 June
  • Tuesday 9 June
  • Thursday 18 June
  • Friday 19 June

Students can register their interest by emailing careers@lawscot.org.uk. We will then circulate an MS Form for formal registration. Once registered, participants will receive two Zoom links: one for the sessions on 8 and 9 June, and another for 18 and 19 June.

What we’ll cover

Our programme is currently being finalised, but the first session, Introduction to Law and University Applications, will be of particular interest to your students. We’ll cover UCAS applications, SAAS, and more!

The other days will have a focus on what is happening now in the legal profession, taking students on a career journey exploring the unexpected and interesting areas you can practice law in Scotland.

Logistics

If multiple students from your institution are participating, we have found in previous years that reserving a classroom or suitable shared space is helpful. This supports accessibility (whether joining via a shared device or interactive screen) and allows students to take part in breakout discussions together.

King’s Trust Enterprise Challenge

On Friday 27th March we welcomed the King’s Trust to the Business & Computing faculty.

We had a group of 40 S1’s participating in the King’s Enterprise Challenge where groups of young people were introduced to the concept of entrepreneurship, practicing business-style pitches and culminating in the opportunity to compete in the Business Simulation game. There were lots of really interesting business ideas from our fantastic group of students and definitely some fierce competition during the Business Simulation game.

The winning team with a whopping 18,771 points were: Leah Gold (Skye), Katie Murray (Skye)  and Shauna Fulton (Arran). Well done girls!

We are eagerly waiting to hear if the girls will make it to the National Finals where they would compete for £1000 to bring their business idea to life!

Thank you to the King’s Trust for coming in and giving out young people such a wonderful experience.
