Week 3 In the Caledonia Centre

This week, our S1 pupils had their photographs taken for their NEC cards. The NEC card  provides free bus travel and various discounts in shops. If any parents need assistance with lost NEC cards, please feel free to contact us.

At the Caledonia Centre, we proudly watched our senior pupils take an important step in their post-16 transition as they began their weekly college placements. The courses included Professional Cookery, Creative Arts, and Hotel Skills. Our pupils have already formed new friendships, and we look forward to hearing more about their college experiences throughout the year.

Finally, we were delighted to welcome Kirsty from the Marine Conservation Society as part of their Education Road Show. We learned a great deal and had a fantastic time.

Some of our seniors had a fabulous morning on 5th August when they met with the Cabinet Secretary for Education & Skills, Ms Jenny Gilruth to talk about their plans now they have their results.

A lot of media were represented and our young people were able to share their stories. There are a few links are noted below if you’d like to catch up!

Silver Duke of Edinburgh Expedition

Our Silver Duke of Edinburgh group recently completed their practice expedition along the scenic Greenock Cut in Muirshiel Regional Park.

Blessed with warm and sunny conditions, the team made excellent progress while developing their navigation, teamwork, and outdoor skills. Spirits were high throughout the day as pupils embraced the challenge and enjoyed the stunning views across the Firth of Clyde.

A great day for all involved!

Sports Day 2025!

Our annual Sports Day took place last week under bright skies and an atmosphere full of excitement, determination, and school pride. Students from all year groups came together to represent their house teams in a series of athletic challenges, showing outstanding sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout the event.

This year’s competition saw a close contest among our four house groups: Mull, Arran, Skye, and Lewis. Every race, jump, and throw added crucial points to the team totals, and the final standings reflected just how tight the competition was:

4th Place – Mull House: 498 points
3rd Place – Arran House: 500 points
2nd Place – Skye House: 501 points
1st Place – Lewis House: 523 points

Congratulations to Lewis House, who claimed the Sports Day trophy with an impressive total of 523 points! Their teamwork, determination, and consistent performance across the events earned them a well-deserved victory.

We would like to thank all the staff, student volunteers, and supporters who helped make the event a success.
