World Book Day 2021

World Book Day is this Thursday, 4th March.

As always we will be celebrating our love of reading at Ibrox Primary School.

Children are welcome to come dressed as their favourite character from a book, or in their PJs or onesie ready to relax and read. Please note due to restrictions we can’t have any props or books from home.

Children in P4-P7 are welcome to join in from home and share their favourite books or costumes on Showbie. Children in P1-3 are also encouraged to post their favourite book on Showbie and teachers will share these in class.

Keep an eye on Twitter as staff will be posting Book Day info and activities. If you are tweeting a message please use #ibroxreads2021 so we can easily see all the amazing reading going on.

Children in Primary 1, Primary 2 and Primary 3 will be gifted their Bookbug/ Read Write Count bags to bring home on Thursday and Mrs Chalmers will be running parent information sessions to support the use of these in the shed, times to follow.

School staff will also be sharing their book recommendations on Thursday, watch out for further info.

Home Learning Pack Collection

The next Home Learning Pack for P4-P7 children will be available to collect on Monday 1st March between 115 and 245pm from the infant shed. This will complement the work being completed on Showbie and include additional resources to support children with their learning. Learning packs will include a whiteboard, whiteboard pen, jotter, pencil and highlighter.

P4-P7 class teachers will be uploading one Literacy and one Numeracy lesson each day. As school has now been closed for an extended period we need children to be engaging with these, watching the teaching content and uploading their completed work.

Digital Support will be available on Monday between 115 and 230pm for anyone still struggling to access Showbie.

Please remember to wear a face covering and maintain 2m distance.

The Home Learning Pack will cover week beginning 1st March and week beginning 8th March. We are hopeful for an update on whether our P4-P7 classes can return to school on 15th March at next Tuesday’s First Minister briefing.

Park Visits

All classes have been allocated a day to visit Bellahouston Park and participate in Outdoor Learning. This is in line with national guidance encouraging Outdoor Learning as we return to school.

Classes will visit the park as below,

Tuesday- Primary 3

Wednesday- Primary 1

Thursday- Primary 2/3

Friday- Primary 1/2

Children will be provided with a packed lunch from the dinner hall or they can bring their own. The plan is to spend the full day in the park but this may be altered due to adverse weather. Please ensure your child has appropriate footwear and jacket/layers warm enough for spending the day outside.
