New Maths Resources and Bloom’s Questioning!

Last week during assembly we were given a fabulous box of new maths resources.

We have been using them during every maths lesson to help us understand tricky concepts such as working out fractions and percentages.

Here we are using counting beads and counters to calculate the fraction of a quantity.

Aidan enjoyed using the resources because it made maths fun, and something different to writing it down.

Caitlin thinks they helped her loads with her sums.

Ahmed thinks using the new resources helped him as he could see it instead of having to keep all the working out in his head.

As a class we split into groups and had to choose a different question to discuss with the rest of our group. These questions fell under six different categories: Remembering, Creating, Analysing, Applying, Evaluating, and Understanding. It is important for us to practise different types of questions to show our understanding and higher order thinking which is great preparation for high school.

” I enjoyed working out percentages of a quantity the best” – Del

” I loved the new maths resources” – Andrew

” I liked fractions the best” – Aimee

We have one full week left until some of us go off to Ardentinny!!

Have a great week!
