Literacy Challenge

It has been a very busy couple of weeks for the Literacy Challenge!  Please read all our exciting news.

Hear, Say, Play, Write

Hear, Say, Play, Write began for the Primary 1 and 2 children.  They had a fantastic time listening to the story Room on the Broom written by Julia Donaldson read by Mrs Woolfries.  All the classes enjoyed joining in with the story and listening out for the rhyming words.  They can’t wait to do some writing around the story next week.

Playing With Sounds

This week was celebration week for all the children and carers in Primary 1 who took part in our Playing With Sounds Programme.  A huge thank you goes out to all of them. They have attended faithfully over the last six weeks despite the rain, snow and Christmas stress! Everyone agreed that the programme was extremely worthwhile and they have seen great progress with their children’s learning. Look out for our next block of fun beginning end of February!

Bookbug Prize

Last Friday we had an assembly to announce the winner of the Scottish Book Trust Bookbug Prize.  Mrs Woolfries played a trick on us and wrapped up the winning book three times.  It took us ages to get the last wrapper off and find out the winning book was……… Gorilla Loves Vanilla by Chae Strathie.  We were delighted because when we voted in school he was our winner too!
