New Topic

Good morning🤗

Our topic this term is modern studies.

My first question that I would like you to answer is what is modern studies? We know it is important because you can study it in high school,  but what is it and why is it important?

Task
On the YouTube channel, the wonderful Miss Cohen has explained what Modern Studies. All you have to do is copy the Link onto your safari.
Here’s the link – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBjqn03lZYc-6pCjJPIRqwg/videos

Have a go at your first topic task.  You can email me any question you have and also to let me know how you got on. Feel free to do some of your own research for this topic before the next lessons, this will help you have a better idea about it.

Missing you all loads!

Miss O’Donnell 🤗

Wednesday 29th April

Good morning🤗

Todays tasks are going to be focusing on literacy and maths

Literacy

I thought today we could try a guided reading. This guided reading is based on mental health, as that is our focus of the week. Try and complete this task independently, however, if you need help you can ask someone at home. Additionally, Miss McCue has filmed herself reading the text and questions, so if you think you would benefit from listening to this then copy and paste the link onto your safari.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBjqn03lZYc-6pCjJPIRqwg/videos

Here is the text and questions

Maths

Today I thought we could try multi step word problems. This means when answering each question you are using more than one operation.  You all know what the four operations are, so why not start with addition, is there any phrases in the first question that link to addition? If not move onto subtraction, then division and then multiplication.

Finally, today is international dance day

Why not take a break from your work and dance. Why not get creative with your family and make a family dance, or maybe you just want to do a dance own your own. Either way, this is a fun activity that the whole family can get involved in. I would love to see videos or pictures of your dance, so remember you can email me them.

You do not have to do everything on the blog, but it is good to keep your brain active during this time.

Here are the answers to guess the teacher

1. Miss Graham
2. Mrs Harker
3. Miss Kinloch
4. Mr Keddilty
5. Mrs Creevy

Mental health💜💪🏽

This weeks focus is mental health.

During these uncertain times it is normal to feel a mix of emotions, because we are living in a situation that we are not use to. When we feel sad or upset/ worried about things, it is natural to feel this way, everybody has these feeling.

When  we are worried about  something there are loads of people we can talk to. You can talk your parents, your siblings, your friends, teacher in school and of course me!  Sometimes it helps if your write your feelings down, this can make you feel better. So for this week, I would like you to complete the worksheet below. This involves drawing how you feel everyday this week.  Remember you can also email me if you want to chat💜

Task 2

I have loved reading some of your creative stories, so here is another one I have started and I would like you to complete:

Miss O’Donnell and all of primary 7 went on a school trip to the local museum. The children were so excited as they laughed and joked on the bus to the museum.  The children were really interested in all the different exhibits. Zoha shouted the class and Miss O’Donnell over when all of a sudden one of the exhibits came to life……….

missing you all loads💜

Happy Monday

Good morning P7, I hope you are all well. It is wonderful to see more of you being active on the blog and communicating with each other. Keep up the good work 👍

Todays tasks

Maths- I have posted a number of word problems for you to try. Remember and read what the question is asking you. Look for key words which might help you identify which operation to use. Remember our 4 operations – addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.  Give these questions a go and let me know how you get on Task 2

Task 2 is a written task. I have started the story, your task is to continue the adventure

Even though Eesa was great at cricket, he knew there was no point asking his parents if he could go to the club. They didn’t believe the sport was worth spending time on ……

you can post your story in the comments and share it with the class, or you can email it to me and I can share with the class on friday. Also remember you can send me pictures of what you have been getting up to and I will share them on Friday blog as well.

have a lovely day, missing you all 🤗

Happy Friday 🌞

Good morning p7!

It was lovely seeing some of you yesterday☺️ I hope that by using your iPads you can stay connected with the class.  Todays task is writing task. I have started the story, your task is to continue and finish the story:
By the light of the moon, Zahra could see the outlines of all the silver birch trees in the forests. She couldn’t believe she’d actually done it …….

If you have your iPad, you could type your story onto notes and post it on here for the class to see.

Our Friday blog is when we share pictures, so here is a picture of Azeem. In this picture Azeem has built our school using Lego😮 How amazing, well done Azeem!👍

Another fun task you could try is guess the baby. If you go onto primary 1’s blog you will see pictures of the staff as toddlers, can you guess who is who? There is also a video on the St Albert’s infants YouTube channel with more staff members. Can you guess them all?

Have a lovely weekend, missing you all 🤗🤗🤗

🌍Happy Earth day🌍

Happy Wednesday ☺️

I have loved receiving emails from some of you, it’s great to know what you have been getting up to. Since it is another lovely day, I decided to get up earlier and head out for a walk. Look how blue the sky is!

I am going to start posting different tasks for you to try relating to maths and health and well-being. Remember you do not need to do all the tasks but it is good to keep your mind active during this time.

maths

Here are two worksheets that involve simplifying fractions. Remember when you are simplifying, whatever you do to the top you must do to same to the bottom number. So the numerator and denominator must be divided by the same number. Try some questions from each worksheet and let me know you get on.

Health and wellbeing

Today is Earth Day🌍 why not try this challenge with your family and let me know how you get on.

while trying this challenge you could try and keep active for the hour. This could involve going a walk with the family or playing a family game.  Here is an example of a game you could play:As I mentioned I have been trying to exercise  more during this time. I decided to challenge myself and try the Tik Tok  T-shirt challenge. I know from Lockerbie that some of you love Tik Tok so I thought I would give it a go. Has anybody else tried the fitness challenges? They are so hard😆

Tasks for today

Sumdog- remember to to access Sumdog as often as you can. I have had a look and some of your scores are amazing, so well done!

Word search- Mrs Dunnet has created a word search using names of the teachers in st Alberts, can you find them? I would love to see you all try this and send a picture of you completing the word search. Remember you can send me pictures throughout the day of anything you have been doing.

Miss O’Donnell 🤗

Term 4💜

Good afternoon P7! I hope you are all well and enjoyed the Easter break. Now that the holidays are over we can get back to chatting on the blog again.

Over the Easter holiday I spent loads of time chilling and eating my body weight in chocolate 🍫🤪 now that the holidays are over I want to take full advantage of the Scottish sunshine and go for walks or do some exercises in the garden😎 I need to get myself back into a routine.

What have you all been up to since we last spoke? I would love to see pictures of what you have been up to. Remember you can send them to my email- (gw19odonnelllauren1@glow.sch.uk) and I can share them with the class on fridays blog.
