A busy week

This week has been so busy, as we have had to arrange the Coffee Morning. This was stressful and tiring as we had to sort all the raffle and tombola prizes as well as sell raffle tickets to children and teachers in the school.  We also made our own cakes in class on Thursday with Mrs Brightman.

Our highlights of the week, apart from our amazing coffee morning were:

  • Debating whether children should have the opportunity to use technology.
  • Basketball game in PE
  • Pictograms with Miss Cohen

Radiotastic

Welcome back to our blog. This week was radiotastic.

Mondays highlight-  division and food tasting. Division was fun as some of us were able to turn the reminder into  a decimal or fraction. Additionally , food tasting was great because we got to taste the difference between locally grown food and supermarket fruit. We thought that the main differences were taste, touch and smell.

Tuesdays highlight- learning more about Fairtrade. We learned that Fairtrade is one the biggest and well known organisations from around the world and was established in 1992.

Wednesdays highlights- This was a fun day as we got to create our own adverts and jingles. We were split into groups of four and recorded our own adverts.  Zayd, Rayan, Yashdeep, Ahsan, Hamza, Azeem and  Najib Ullah all took part in the film festival. This involved interviewing the Eco members.

Thursday highlight- Samba with Mrs Brightman. We got to use a range of music instruments. Additionally, we wrote a report relating to our topic. We took mini  breaks during this lesson to recharge our brains.

Our sustainable week

This week was full of excitement as we went on our first class trip, made our first radio advert and cooked vegetable soup with Mrs Brightman.

On Tuesday, we ventured out in the rain to the New Victoria Gardens  and the Hidden Gardens.  Although it was raining, we had a great day, as we got split into groups to see how many different types of fruit and vegetables we could see.  We also got the opportunity to plant peas and eat freshly grown apples and flowers ( yes, real flowers) from the allotments. Also Aliza Ahmad met the mother of a  famous youtuber, she was called Shazia. Shazia’s daughter Iman has over 2 million subscribers on youtube!

On Wednesday we learned how to record our own adverts. This was exciting as we got to talk into the large microphone. Our adverts were promoting crazy inventions, some that we wish were real!!

On Thursday we used our cooking skills to make vegetable soup. This involved us cutting vegetables using a knife. We also cut different types of fruit and vegetables. From this we took the seeds and planted them in the hope of growing our own fruit and vegetables in the class. Children who were not helping to prepare the fruit and veg,  were working out the food miles of all food items or painting fruit and vegetables using water colours.
