Day 12 – P3’s Great Realisation

Good morning, lovely to see you again!

Over the next few days there will be some tasks to complete focused  on an amazing poem called ‘The Great Realisation’.  It was only written recently and posted on YouTube last week.  Already it’s been seen over 18 million times! Make sure you are one of those people to see it. If you like it, share it with family and friends!

Task 1: watch the film then look at the attached worksheet.  Today, complete tasks A, B and C.

Task A
Discuss the film with a partner and think about the following questions:

• How did the film make you feel?
• Why did it make you feel that way?
• What was your favourite part of the film?
• Why was it your favourite?

Task B:
The title is ‘The Great Realisation’.
• Discuss what this title means.
• Why do you think the author chose this title?
• Can you think of a different title you might have chosen?

Task C:
• Write down any words or phrases you don’t know.
• Use your reading strategies to work out the meaning of each word.
• Use a dictionary or the internet to find out the meaning of any words you still don’t know.

Task 1: Literacy- If you haven’t had the chance then have a watch of the hilarious film the staff made to celebrate Miss Bull’s wedding (that would’ve been if it wasn’t for the Coronavirus lockdown’.  When you’ve watched it, choose your favourite book and see if you can change the words to make them suit a situation like Miss Bull’s.  I bet she’d love to hear them.

Task 2: Science: it’s a lovely day again so watch my Signs of Spring video and get out for a walk look out for the signs of spring.  Can you spot the same as me? Can you spot different ones?

Task 3: Literacy: have a look at my updated Nature Scrapbook.  Now go and update yours.  If you haven’t started one yet, now is your chance.

Day 10 – Our World is Amazing!

Hello, it’s Friday again, wooohooo!!!

This week there has a been a focus across the school on Mental Health and how we can cope with the stress of the lockdown.  Have a watch of this film I’ve made from one of my favourite books.  As you read each page, think about what it means to you and your family.
Remember that I love you all and I’m here to help in anyway I can.

Here is a poster you can read over with your family.  It might help to make everyone feel better and calmer.

Have a look at some of these amazing places that exist in the world.  Discuss what you see, how does it make you feel?  Would you like to go there?  Which one is your favourite?  Why?

Choose one of these amazing places and Give Me 5.

Give me 5 different sense words to describe it.

What do you….see…..hear….smell….feel…taste?

Play the describing game.  This is a game for 2 or more players.  Take it in turns to choose an amazing place from the video.  Each person takes a turn to ask a question to the person who chose the place.  If they guess correctly before they ask 5 questions, they get a point.  If they don’t guess correctly after 5 questions, you get the point.  It’s important to ask good questions!

It’s that time again! Go on have a laugh, it’s the very best way to make you feel better.

Day 9 – Share your feelings P3

Good morning, I trust you are well.  I’m still missing you all but maybe a walk outside will do us all good.  Follow the guidance in the film and I can guarantee you’ll have an amazing time!

Task 1:  go for a walk and count how many beautiful blossom trees you see.  This is the best time of year to spot them.  They are amazing to look at and when it’s windy the blossom drifts off like snow.  If you can, go up close to one and look carefully at the flowers.  Take photos to remind you what they look like.  When you return home, see if you can draw or paint the blossom from the photos and your memories.

Task 2: Art: follow the film and create a masterpiece of watercolour Cherry Blossoms.  Hang it up somewhere in your house and start to make your own art gallery.

Task 3: Science:  follow these exciting science experiments that you can do at home.  Miss Cohen will teach you how to write an invisible message!

Day 8 – P3 are undoubtedly the best.

Goooood morning everyone, Hope you had a great sleep las night ready for whatever the today holds.  This week there’s a big focus on your mental health.  There won’t be any specific tasks today.  Just a few films and thoughts to consider to take away any stresses you might have.

The staff at St Albert’s (who, as I’m sure you know, are the best in the world) have made a short video on how they are feeling about the lockdown.  It’s sometimes surprising for people, adults and children, to realise that no matter how strong someone may appear, they still need to be mindful about their feelings.

Watch this film, think about about it on your own, then share your feelings with someone else.  Then, ask them to share their feelings with someone else, then get them to pass it on.  See how many people you can get to share their feelings about the lockdown.  Talking it helps.

Do a bit of creative emoji art.  Design your own emoji to show how you are currently feeling.

Relax by listening to Mrs Creevy from class 1.

Day 7 – P3’s Miles Better

Ah, hello again.  Lovely to see you, you’re looking well!

Before we start with today’s tasks have a watch of yesterday’s first ever St Albert’s virtual assembly!

Task 1: Literacy.  We’re going to write a story, it can be either fiction or nonfiction, it’s your choice.  The story will be set in a castle.  Watch my film as I walk you round the castle.  It’s very old and is ruined, but use your imagination to work out what it would’ve looked like hundreds of years ago.
Things to consider:

Who lived there?

What happened in the castle?

How did the castle become ruined?

Why was it built there in the first place?

Task 2: Numeracy: Have a go at the tasks for BBC Bitesize.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zn4q7nb

Task 3: Science: does everyone remember when we made our Apple Bird Feeders?  I hope so, it was one of my favourite activities ever in P3.  Well, why don’t we try it again?  Follow the instructions and see if you can help feed our feathered friends as they are busy helping to raise their chicks.  If you don’t have all the resources then try something different.  Good luck.

Day 6 – The Magic of P3

Good Morning, hope this reaches you all well and thankfully for another sunny day!  For one of my daily walks I managed to make it all the way to the beach, I’ve made a couple of films that I’ll put up over the week.

A quick reminder that I’m currently making up a home pack that will be with you hopefully by the end of this week.

Yesterday was meant to be the 40th anniversary of the London Marathon.  There’s a quick video abut the history of the marathon, where it started and why it’s 26 miles long.

Because the London Marathon didn’t take place, people were doing other things called “the 2.6 challenge”.  you could do anything at all as long as it had the numbers 2 and 6 in it.

Task 1:  HWB: I’ve made a short film about my challenge, now you go and make a challenge. Be creative, think of interesting and unique challenges for you and your family!

Task 2: Literacy:  Have al look at the today’s literacy challenge on BBC Bitesize and try each of the tasks.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zkbfy9q

Task 3:  Science;  Take time to enjoy nature around you.  It’s really important that in these strange times, we remember and appreciate birds, animals, and beautiful flowers that are starting to bloom.

Day 5; It’s Fantastic Fun Friday

Well done, you made it to the end of the first week of term 4, you’re AWESOME!

Since it’s Friday I’ve got some fun activities.  Hope you have a wonderful start to Ramadan.

Task 1: HWB, after yesterday’s keep fit staff video, try it again with our good friend Joe Wicks!

Task 2; Keep on dancing!

Task 3: Have a laugh,

Day 4; Get Fit P3!

Morning, are you ready to get fit?  Your first task today is a combination of getting yourself fit and having a huge amount of fun laughing at the St Albert’s staff!

Task 1: HWB; watch the St Albert’s staff get fit video on YouTube then try out some of the fun activities yourself!

Task 2: Geography; watch the video on the UK countries and answer the activity questions.  Can you make up your own map of your local area?  Think about special landmarks and places people might like to visit.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z42pnrd

Task 3: Science: Make a Twirly:  follow the instructions by Miss Milne and see how far you can fly your twirly?  Can you make it a cool design?  How could you make it fly further?
