Day 22 – Be Thankful for What You Have P3

Good morning again, hope you got out and about yesterday in the glorious sunshine.   It’s amazing how a bit of sun can make everyone feel a bit better.  This will be the last post until Tuesday due to the May holiday.  For those of you who will be celebrating Eid over the next few days I truly hope you have a wonderful time.  Make sure you send me photos or even short films about your celebrations!

Task 1: HWB, have a watch of this week’s assembly.  It’s about faith, something that is very important to a lot of people.

Task 2: RME: continue on with the rest of the activities from Bitesize

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zdgrcqt

Task 3:  NOTHING!!!  Go outside and savour the beauty of the world.  Whether it be sunshine or rain, get out and take in nature in all its glory.  Be thankful for what we have, relax, and enjoy the start of the holiday.

Take care everyone, miss you so much!

Day 21 – The Moon and the Stars are the Gifts of Day

Task 1:  RME:  over the next couple of days it will be good to learn a bit more about Ramadan.  Maybe you know all this already but it would be useful to reflect on everything that has happened over the past few weeks, whether you observed Ramadan or not.  Today, watch the film and then do activity number 1

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zdgrcqt

Task 2:  Art: Eid Moon :  Watch this film I made about using different paint techniques to create a night scene with a crescent moon.  Try and follow the instructions and create your own stunning painting.  Take a photo of your moon art and send it to me on WhatsApp.  I’ll then post them on the blog.

Task 3:  Literacy:  Youtube Live, tune in at 2.30 to listen to me reading a fantastic book I’ve selected on Ramadan and Eid.  Hopefully this time the comments section will work so I can see your questions and ideas!

Before reading the book, have a look at the front cover and think about what might happen in the book? Who are the main characters? Where is the story set.

Day 20 – Reach for the Stars P3

Good morning, it’s Tuesday!  Hope you’re all well.

Task 1:  Literacy:  Give me 5 sentences to describe what is happening in these photos.  Can you remember what we did in P3??

Task 2:  Numeracy:

Task 3:  Science:   with the phases of the moon playing such an important part of Ramadan I’ve included a task that focuses on how the Earth, Sun and moon work together.

Day 19- Magic Monday for Marvellous P3

Welcome back to another exciting week of activities.  I hope you had a lovely weekend.  We have a couple of short weeks coming up with holidays on Friday of this week and Monday of next week.

Also, Ramadan is coming to end soon so let’s have a fantastic few days in P3!

Task 1:  HWB:  watch this video of pavement chalk activity from the P4-7 YouTube channel.  I did it with Owen and Sam this week and they loved it!  Give it a go yourself.  The best part is watching the neighbours take part!

Task 2; Outdoors, watch this amazing film made by the active staff at St Albert’s.  Get out and the outdoors at some point today.  Can you make a short film about your time outside?

Task 3: Literacy: Homophones.  Watch the films and complete the activities on Homophones.  How many you can think of yourself then see if any family members can get some too.  Good luck.

Day 18 – Wow, where did Friday come from??

It’s the end of the week already, hope you made it through safely!  What were your thoughts on yesterday’s  YouTube Live stream? ? Would you like to see other people do it?  Maybe go onto other class’ blogs and nominate the next teacher to one! If you missed the live stream it’s still available to watch on the St Albert’s Infants YouTube channel.

Miss Bull came up with a great idea in the comments.  Why don’t you make your own book with strange words and phrases then make a family member read!

Task 1:  Time Capsule; hopefully you’ve got enough stuff to put into your Time Capsule.  You can use pretty much anything to make your capsule, a old shoe box or plastic bottle.  If you are going to bury your time capsule, remember to ask permission first and keep a note of where you bury it.  If you need anymore ideas check out Lily’s brilliant Time Capsule on the St Albert’s Facebook page.

Task 2: HWB: today is Mrs Creevy’s last day before she goes on maternity.  I think we can all agree that Mrs Creevy is amazing so why don’t you go into class 1’s blog and send her a message.  To remind you of how talented she is, watch this film.

Task 3: RME, Miss Bull has made a really interesting film about Ramadan.  Watch it and see if you can answer any of her questions.

Day 17 – Don’t Stop Believing P3

Morning everyone!  Today is going to be a first for me, I’m going to attempt to do a Youtube Live broadcast!  That’s right, between 2.30pm and 3.00pm this afternoon I’ll be on the St Albert’s Infants YouTube channel reading a specially chosen book.  I’m hoping that you can all make it to watch me, I’ll be very nervous!  Maybe you could even post some comments, thoughts or questions and I’ll read them out LIVE on YouTube.  Don’t worry, I would read out full names just your first name.  Make sure you gather your family round as well.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCh5GQLl6kdUmUJFwGaO-ijg

Task 1:  Time Capsule, continue on with your time Capsule activities. As well as  the activities I’ve given you could look out some photos or drawings from lockdown and prepare them to put into your Time Capsule?  Use your imagination!

Time Capsule P3

Task 2: Numeracy and Music;  Yes, it’s a strange combination but this Bitesize video is great fun and works really well to get a rhythm and pattern for Hundreds Tens and Units.

Task 3:  Reading, at 2.30pm today head over to the St Albert’s Youtube channel for a Live Stream of me reading “The Book With No Pictures”.  I’ve read this in class before and it’s hilarious.  It’s the one where the reader has to make really strange noises and make a fool themselves!  I’m so looking forward to hearing from you, remember to invite family members t watch it with you.  So get comfortable, sit back and relax.

Day 15 – Best Class Ever!!!

Welcome back to the P3 blog, I trust that you are all well.  I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable May Holiday.  Even though it wasn’t possible to away anywhere special it was still nice to spend time with my family.

Mrs Harker has asked that we share this link which is an opportunity for parents to have their say on how school will look after lockdown.  It’s important that if you have any ideas, questions or concerns about your child’s education that you share it here.

https://www.ideas.gov.scot/covid-19-a-framework-for-decision-making/future-options-for-allowing-pupils-to-return-to-school

This week I’m going to focus on the Lockdown Legacy.  Legacy just means “what we leave behind”.  I want us to try to be positive about what we remember about our current situation.  In order to do this I want you to make a “Time Capsule”.  If you’re not sure what a Time Capsule is then try to work it out, ask someone or look it up on the internet.

I’ll post a copy of the Time Capsule sheets each day until Friday.  There are 11 ideas on what could go into your TimeCapsule, feel free to pick and choose which ones you like.  I suggest doing 3 sheets a day.   I’ll post a video on how to make a Time Capsule on Friday as well.

As always, if you have any ideas of your own then go for it.  You can share your ideas on here,  on the St Albert’s Facebook page, or email them to my address above.

Lockdown Legacy

just click on the green link to access the Time Capsule activities.

Time Capsule P3

These tasks cover many aspects of the curriculum including Literacy, Health and Wellbeing, Social Studies and Art.

Task 2:  Numeracy, complete these multiplication sums.  If you remember in class I’d give 3 columns with each getting more challenging.  You can choose which column you want to do, do all 3 if really want to!!

In service day

Morning everyone, hope you had a fantastic weekend.  Today is actually an in service day for teacher training so there’s no usual tasks for you.
However, if you want to keep your brains active then have a watch of the BBC Bitesize TV show.  It’s 18 mins long and takes you through some activities on different subjects.
I’ll see you all again tomorrow.

Day 14- let’s go again, P3.

Hello and good morning to you.  I’m missing you all so much.  Today I want all of you to give someone a big hug for no reason.  I can guarantee it’ll make their day better.  The 7th of May is a very special day for me, can anyone guess why????

That’s right, it’s my birthday!  This will definitely be one of the strangest birthday celebrations I’ve ever had.  My plan is to have a picnic in my garden, then go for a lovely walk in the park with Sam and Owen and finally, have a BBQ for our dinner.  I’ll also talk to my mum, dad and my two big sisters (who I’m missing loads) on Zoom.  Hope you all have a lovely day!

Task 1: Literacy, the final tasks for The Great Realisation.  Hope you’re enjoying studying this amazing film and poem.

Task 2: History: Tomorrow is VE Day.  Watch this film to find out why it’s such an important day in history.  Even though it happened 75 years ago, we can still learn lots from it.

consider of these questions and talk about them with your family:

1. How do you think it felt to finally end the war?
2. What would be the first thing you would have done when the war ended?
3. Can you think of similarities between war and our current lockdown? (food, friendships, restrictions of movement etc)

Task 3: Numeracy: Number Facts
