Day 8 – follow your dreams P3

Hello again strangers.  As well as the daily tasks I’m posting remember to keep using Sumdog for your numeracy and reading skills.
Also, keep trying to interview people over WhatsApp or Facebook or FaceTime etc.  Try and change your 5 questions each time.  You could interview family, friends or neighbours using a video call.

Task 1: Going on a Bear Hunt

There’s never been a better time to immerse yourself in this brilliant story.  There’s loads of activities to keep everyone entertained. Why not organise your own bear hunt indoors and outdoors?

Check out this news link.  Your bear hunt could go worldwide!

Don’t forget to put your bears in your window for other people to try and spot.

Task 2: Gangin’ on a Bear Hunt

The same story but read in Scots.  Which words can you recognise? Can you translate back into English? Which strategies could you use? If you know another language, can you translate the story into that language?

Task 3: Shopping challenge.  Can you find out how much my shopping will cost and how much change I’d get from £20?
Using Asda online, how much would it cost for me to buy the following?

5 bananas

A bag of apples

1 loaf of brown bread

2 tins of tomato soup

2 chicken breasts

1 tub of ice cream

When you have found out how much all that costs and how much change I’d get from £20, can you go back and the similar items for less money??
Why not choose your own items.  Which items are essential and which ones are luxury? Which items would you buy for a family? Which items would you buy for an older person living on their own?
