Our Trip to Edinburgh Zoo

We are so looking forward to our trip to Edinburgh Zoo!

Zainab used her blending arm to sound out ‘panda’

We had so much fun exploring the zoo and finding all the different animals that live there! We used to map reading skills to find our way around.

Jibraeel- Our trip was awesome

M Abdullah- I saw a panda sleeping.

Deen-  I saw white lions.

Abdulahadi- We seen wild cats.

Innayah- We seen monkeys.

Amer- Thank you for the trip!

Zayn- It was so good!

Amna- We saw a panda.

Subhan- I saw a tiger.

We have such a fun and tiring day, now time for some rest on the way home!

3 Days of Fun

We had lots of fun with Mrs McFadden on Tuesday  finding data in the playground.

Also in maths this week we looked at place value. We went into the sensory garden to look for bundles of 10.

We also all got a shot at place value basket ball, Miss Graham was very impressed with our learning.

We are looking forward to going to the zoo today! Check back for pictures of our trip!

Back Into Our Brand New Classroom

What an amazing week in Primary 2! We LOVED getting back into our newly decorated classroom and getting to explore what had changed.

This week we had to much fun with lots of different activates taking place.

In maths this week, we have been continuing to look at numbers and how we can break them down.

Ajwa – When you are adding numbers together, you are using the numbers from breaking down.

RV – We were looking at numbers.

Charlotte – Breaking down numbers

Abdulahadi – Finding two numbers that make one number.

Rida – We were counting.

Amna – We were making numbers.

We absolutely loved having a taster Judo sessions and getting to try out different holds.

Amna – We were doing Judo.

Charlotte – We were doing Judo holds.

Inayah – Judo comes from Japan.

We went outside to do some maths.

We had a visit from the police telling us about firework safety.

Charlotte – The police spoke to us.

Rida – They talked about being safe.

Amer – They talked about fireworks.

Abdulahadi – Don’t go near fireworks, even when they are not working because you don’t know what they are going to do.

 

During our PE time on Friday we enjoyed different team games in the sun with Mr McDonald.

Fantastic Week in P2

This Week in Primary 2  we worked so hard.

We had the amazing Miss Cohen working with us on Monday and we looked at where our clothes are made.

We  worked in groups of 4 to find the labels on clothes, find out where they were made and plot that onto a world map.

Zayn – We were taking pictures of clothing labels.

Amna – Looking at where they came from.

Abuldahadi – Looking at what country the clothes are made in.

Aarv – We were doing topic work.

 

 

During Maths we have been looking at how whole number are made.

Deen- Pulling apart numbers to 10.

M Issa – 1 more means adding 1

Aleena – We used cubes to help up.

 

We then joined Primary 2/3 to look at the distance our clothes travel and the time it takes for them to come to Scotland.

Armaan – We walked along the  muga using the  wheel. (trundle wheel)

Subhan – We measured the km.

Alvina – We read fairy tales.

We love having Clare in with us on a Friday to practice our signing.

Lulu – We were singing.

Our Gold Star this week goes to our fantastic Zainab! Well Done!

Another week in Primary 2

Bonjour!

We have had such a fun week in Primary 2 exploring all the different areas of the curriculum!

We learned to greet and say goodbye to people in French as well as asking our friends their name. We also had so much fun exploring different ways and objects to estimate inside and outdoors.

Ajwa- “Estimating is thinking how many without counting”.

What is estimating? Whole Class- “Guessing”.     

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

During the week we also planted some cress seeds are we are excited to watch them grow.

Amna- “We planted seeds”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We had so much fun with Mrs Qureshi when she came into read a story to us in both English and Urdu. Thank you again!

On Friday afternoon we also had Claire in teaching us lots of different songs and clapping techniques.

Amer – “We learned a new song”.

Innayah – “To be able to response clap”.

 

We also had lots of laughs practicing our balancing skills and  being able to stand extremely still.

M Talha – “we practiced balancing”.

Primary 2’s Gold Star with this week is our fantastic Lulu!

Primary 2 have had an amazing week filled with lots of fun and learning.

Amna – “We were learning to count and counted up to 110”

We also had a number treasure hunt, and managed to order ourselves into a human number line.

 

 

Zayn – “Mums came in and we read the 3 Billy Goats Gruff”

 

Primary 2 were very lucky and were joined by some mums and carers on Wednesday morning. We read The 3 Billy Goats Gruff and re-told the story, writing and drawing our own versions.

 

 

We looked at the work of Wassily Kadinsky and creating some AMAZING circle art!

Subhan – “Painting circles the same as another painter”

We even managed to remember some facts about Kadinsky’s life.

M Abdullah – ” He was a teacher”.

Ajwa – “He went back to school to learn about art”.

Abdulahadi – “He pained happy and sad paintings”.

 

As part of Health and Wellbeing we focused on our emotions and how they can sometimes being overwhelming.  We know to ‘Do the Turtle’ when we are finding our emotions become too strong.

Charlotte – “We learned how to relax.”

M Talha – ” We done yoga.

Primary 2’s Gold Star awards for the last two weeks are our amazing Charlotte and Abdullah.
