Communication Methods

Communication

We try to communicate in a variety of ways with both parents and pupils.

Assemblies

Assemblies are held weekly by Mrs MacPhee, HT, and Mr Malloy,  PT, where issues are discussed and feedback is given and collected.  Every class is also given the opportunity to present a celebrating success assembly to their peers once a year.

Pupils are also awarded Learning Superhero of the Week at assembly.  This is when each class teacher awards a certificate to a child who has demonstrated one of the four capacities—Confident Individual, Responsible Citizen, Effective Contributor and Successful Learner.  They also link how the child has been like one our school Learning Superheroes- Challenge Charlie, Persevering Paula, Communication Cammy and Reflective Ruby.

Email

Emails are regularly sent out by the office to share newsletters and other important information.  You can also send emails to share information about your child to: stpaulsrcps.enquiries@fife.gov.uk

Folders of Achievement

FOA– shares learning targets and maps out your child’s learning journey.  These are now shared on Seesaw.

Newsletters

Newsletters are sent home every term to keep families informed of important dates and of the successes happening in school. The first newsletter of the year always contains a list of all the dates planned for the coming year – holidays, in-services, parties, shows, discos, sports day, shared starts/finish etc.

Parent Council Meetings

All parents are welcome to attend our Parent Council meetings.

Parent interviews and Reports

Parent interviews are held twice in the year. For P1 their appointments will be in Term 1 and Term 3. For P2 –P7 their appointments will be in Term 2 and Term 3. An appointment system is in place with 10 minutes for each pupil. Formal written reports are given to parents in June.

Pupil Learner Conversations

Pupils meet with HT & PT to show work and discuss what they are learning. Information gathered is shared with staff and contributes towards school development and change.

School Twitter

Mrs MacPhee regularly posts pictures of classes, sharing the fantastic learning that is happening in school and while on trips.

School Seesaw

Every class has a personal Seesaw page that the class teacher keep up to date.  The teacher shares photographs and videos of the class to give families a deeper understanding of the learning taking place in school.  Teachers will also send home reminders about changes to gym days, visitors coming in and asking for craft resources for upcoming lessons.  Homework and Folder of Achievement targets are now shared on Seesaw too.

Shared Start/Finish

Shared start and shared finish is an opportunity to talk and listen to your child while engaging in a range of activities together encouraging your child to explain what they are learning. Through this, you will gain a deeper insight into your child’s learning in the class environment.  It is an opportunity for parents to observe their children in their school environment and celebrate achievements with them.  It is an opportunity to build meaningful partnerships between school and home.

Shared starts are from 9.15 to 10.00am and Shared Finishes are from 2.00 to 2.45pm.

A timetable is sent home for the entire year on our first newsletter.
