Friday 22nd May

This week we have continued to monitor the Oystercatchers and their eggs in our playground. We wrote newspaper reports about the Oystercatchers and the progress they are making. We had to consider the layout of our text and use interesting language and headlines. We have also been working hard on her handwriting, comprehension and spelling skills.

In Numeracy, we have been developing our division skills and making links to multiplication. We have been working hard at mental maths and problem-solving.

In our topic work, we have been learning about food chains and waves and how they are linked. We have created our own examples. We have explored how adaptation works and researched some examples. We enjoyed creating animal printing in art.

As it is national Bee Day this week, we have been creating beehives in loose parts and working well together. we also learned about the importance of bees for biodiversity.

On Thursday it was National Outdoor Learning Day and we enjoyed a visit to Forgan Arts Centre and exploring the grounds there.

In our health and well-being work, we explored what makes a good friend and created our own friendship recipes. In PE we have been working hard at developing our athletic skills and our field sports in team games. We also completed another session of bikeability and developed our slow control and braking.

We enjoyed designing trainers for the upcoming Commonwealth Games as part of a competition.
