Active Travel

Mountfleurie PS is situated in a busy residential area where parking is limited and access roads can be narrow and congested around peak school times. At Mountfleurie we place a great emphasis on promoting Active Travel to our families as a safe and healthy choice while also having benefits for the local environment.

Our Active Travel group which is made up of our Junior Road
Safety Officers (JRSOs) meet every term to plan, discuss and work on new and upcoming projects.

Our focus has more recently been on creating a park & stride site and promoting the safe routes to school from there.

We are also continuing to earn our WOW (The Walk to School Challenge) badges and working with P5-7 pupils to achieve their Bikeability Levels 1 and 2.

We have also been actively encouraging the message ‘DontParkHere’ as part of a wider Fife Council initiative. The video below was made by our JRSO team and encourages safe and responsible parking around the school.
