Learning Overview for Primary P4a

Literacy

WRITING: We will be working on personal writing this term. We will be learning how to write about our own experiences using appropriate structure and vocabulary.

 SPELLING: We will be continuing to complete spelling tasks using different word lists and activities. We will be learning about prefixes and suffixes.

READING:   We will be working on poetry. We will be learning how a poet creates different images with the language that they use. We will be creating our own poems using the different styles of poetry that we have been working on.

Numeracy and Mathematics

NUMERACY:  

We will be learning about money and look at the coins used. We will be learning how to calculate change and how to record amounts in different ways. We are going to do some revision with time particularly using digital clocks. We will be working on patterns and relationships exploring different number patterns and working out the rule for the pattern. We will work on expressions and equations, where we will work out the missing number in calculations using different strategies. We are also going to work on our measuring skills in length, weight and capacity.

 Health and Wellbeing 

P.E  In PE we will work on dance linked to national dances of countries participating in the World Cup. We will be working on athletic skills and team games. We will be participating in Sports Day.

Health: We are continuing to work on our Kitbag journals twice a week.  We will be learning about Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood over a three-week period (website below).

Our Topic will be about…..

Our topic this term is FIFA World Cup 2026. We will be learning about what the World Cup is and how it is organised. We will be learning about some of the countries involved in the World Cup and how we can identify a country using flags and maps. We will be learning about football and identifying famous players from around the world.
