Decider Skills

In term 2 P4-P7 will be learning different decider skills at Assemblies and complete follow up activities with their class teacher.

The Decider Skills turn complex psychological theory into simple, memorable strategies that help children, young people and adults understand emotions, manage distress and make more skilful choices.

Grounded in CBT and DBT, the skills provide a shared language for emotional regulation across education, health, social care and community settings.

Eco Schools

The school is involved with the Eco School project and currently have 5 green flags. We work closely with our local community, neighbouring schools and partner agencies to ensure we help work towards our targets to improve the 10 focus topics.

Health Promoting School

As part of the national priority related to improving the diet and fitness of people in Scotland, our school encourages children to choose healthy options at lunch and break times. We also promote physical activity through our P.E. programme and Daily McLean Mile initiative.

Fife Education has created its own Health Promoting Schools website to support schools in their endeavours.

Rights Respecting Schools

The RRSA is a UNICEF scheme based on the U N Convention of Rights for the Child, which lies at the heart of humanity and at the core of the ethos of schools and communities. It is not only about teaching children about their rights but about reinforcing the universal principles of behaviour and values within their society.

McLean is currently on its journey towards our Silver Award.
