Literacy

WRITING:

We will be working on creating texts to share information. Activities will include creating newspaper reports, evacuation instructions and report writing using notes we have made to support us.

We will also be learning how to clearly structure our informational writing to attract the reader’s attention.

 

SPELLING:

We will be looking at prefixes, suffixes, spelling rules and syllables within words to improve accuracy.

 

READING:

We will be working on finding evidence in texts to support our answers giving reasons for our choices.

We will also be looking to make comparisons and connections with other texts we have read from our group/class readers.

Our class reader this term is ‘The Haggi Connection’.

 

LISTENING & TALKING:

We will be focusing on developing our confidence in speaking to an audience by delivering presentations on a topic of our choosing to our peers. This will give us an opportunity to take on board the feedback we received from our previous presentations to improve in this area.

Numeracy and Mathematics

NUMERACY:

We will be focusing on fractions, percentages and decimals.

Fraction work will include creating, comparing and ordering commonly used fractions, making connections between fractions and decimals as well as learning the vocabulary of fractions such as numerator and denominator.

 

MATHEMATICS:

Information handling is the focus of mathematics this term. We will be generating and analysing visual data such as tables, graphs and charts as well as undertaking surveys to research, present and analyse our findings.

 

 

 Health and Wellbeing

P.E.

We are working on sustaining our levels of fitness and our ability to talk about the difference between stamina, strength, flexibility and speed.

We will make up a keep-fit programme or circuit, showing a layout of apparatus to use.

 

Health:

We will be looking at Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood using the RSHP resources from https://rshp.scot/second-level/

We will be using the second level resources for this that will include…

·         identifying the changes we go through during puberty

·         how to make positive friendships

·         equality

·         completing the units of parenting we began last term

 

 

 

Our Topic will be about…

Natural Disasters

We will be researching the disasters that occur naturally on our planet. We will discover how these events occur and what impact they have on living things and the environment. We will undertake a range of cross curricular activities to contextualise our learning.
