Learning Overview for Primary 4/5
| Literacy
WRITING: We will be working on our skills to be able to write to describe and share experiences. We will be developing our skills in writing in first person. We will work on writing effective descriptions to make our reader really interested.
SPELLING: We will be extending our skills using spelling skills by looking at a variety of spelling patterns and using a different activities to help us learn them. We will also be learning topic related words.
READING: We will continue to develop our comprehension skills with different reading tasks. We will look at starting to develop our Cloze reading and how we can transfer our skills to successfully answer those kinds of questions. |
Numeracy and Mathematics
NUMERACY: We are going to learn about patterns and relationships between numbers. This will involve working out the rule that links the numbers together. Expressions and equations will also be introduced.
MATHEMATICS: We are going to be learning about data and analysis by collecting data and creating different types of graphs. We will also look at computer software programs that help us to generate a graph. We will work on chance and uncertainty. As well as elements of measure such as weight and capacity. We will explore these actively. |
| Health and Wellbeing
P.E: In PE, we are going to work on athletics: run, jump and throw. We will also be working on playing team games and thinking about what it means to be an effective team player.
Health: We will be continuing our Kitbag journals as this has been successful in Term 3. Also, we will be having a more detailed look at Meta Skills. We started discussing this at the end of Term 3. |
Our Topic will be about…..
My Health Following on from last term’s topic, thinking about food in a sustainable way. Our topic this term is going to be Health. We will look at three areas of Health. Healthy Eating and hygiene, physical health and mental health. We are doing our Active week of fundraising activities and we will also have Sports Day this term.
