Our Week, Our School 24/04/26

Dear Parent / Carer,

Welcome to our weekly family and community communication that provides a Headteacher overview of the weeks events and other school-based events and information.

The week that’s been…

Welcome back to our weekly school update! I hope you had a good break and enjoying the sunshine.

It’s been a very strange return following the holiday, with learners in S4-6 on study leave and S1-3 returning. That said it’s been great to see everyone back at the ranch and it’s been a fantastic start to term 4.

Over the course of this week, learners in S1-3 returned to their classes and continued learning in the final weeks of their current year group. Over the next couple of weeks, young people will continue with their current classes with the change of timetable due to take place on Monday 11th May 2026.

We have also had learners in S4-6 come in during the week to take part in masterclasses for their examinations. We have also invited a few learners into school to complete coursework and qualifications.

On Wednesday, this years national examinations started with Spanish at all levels. We have also had Geography on Thursday with Business and Engineering Science taking place today. Well done to all learners who have had their exams this week. As ever, their attitude, application and courage have been second to none.

If you want to read more about what is happening here at KHS, please follow our blog.

Please find attached a flyer for drug awareness workshops organised by Bernardo’s.

The week ahead…

Next week, examinations continue for learners in S4-6 and we continue to wish all the very best of luck.

Please note that school will be closed on Monday 4th May 2026 for the bank holiday.

In addition, school will be closed to almost all learners on Thursday 7th May as there is the final INSET day of the session. Those undertaking Higher and Advanced Higher Maths should attend for their examination. As shared prior to the holiday, there is no school transport on the 7th May and learners must make their own way to and from KHS.

I hope you have fun in the sun over the weekend!

Best wishes,

Chris McKay
