Experimenting with “Ooblek” in Maths

S3 were conducting an experiment in Maths to see whether “Oobleck” could be an effective speed bump. Countries such as Spain already use Non-Newtonian fluid as speed bumps. S3 had make a prediction on what they thought would happen, they had to measure ingredients accurately to make the Oobleck, decide what distance they would use for the test, record the speed of the car going across the “speed bump” and use the Distance, Speed, Time Formula to work out what speed their toy car was going.

Next week we will be comparing and analysing our data. I hope they will create their own research project paper where they will write up their methodology, results and conclusion of findings.

They enjoyed the lesson and their was great work with maths, literacy and science.
