Legend of the Kitchen at the Trade Hub!

Enjoy a report from one of our Trade Hub Legends! They’ve done KHS very proud indeed!

I started the trade hub ten weeks ago on Level 1 Hospitality, and I’ve just moved onto Level 2. Every morning I would get picked up from school by the trade hub minibus, and then get dropped off at the kitchen to cook. It’s the same now on Level 2.

Each week we cooked food from different countries, we cooked Greek, Indian, Scottish and Italian. One of those themed week was really good as one of the days landed on Shrove Tuesday and we made pancakes because it was pancake day.

We had our recipes to follow in a book and they were easy to follow and the ingredients are easy to find in the kitchen. It’s taught me how to cook on a budget then after being at the kitchen when I start cooking for myself and can cook homemade meals and save money. We used scales to weigh things out which was easy, sometimes we had to use maths if the recipe was too big, and we had to write a journal in the afternoon each day about our day and what we did. This means that I have achieved a qualification.

It is very nice and fun at the trade hub, I have got more confident and feel good about myself. I have now started to attend more classes then I did before. It’s gave me something to think about for my future as I move into 4th year and what jobs I would like to do.
