110. Blue Bulletin – Wednesday 05/05/21

WEDNESDAY 5 MAY

Hot Meal: Carrot and coriander soup, Roast chicken and gravy, potatoes and vegetables or Omelette and chips, salad and coleslaw.

Fire Drill (D Allan)
We are required to hold a regular evacuation drill and this will take place today (Wednesday 5 May) at 12.50pm. The alarm will sound (remember that the tone has changed) and your teacher will supervise a controlled evacuation to the usual lines in the playground in front of the assembly hall. Each numbered station is linked to our tutor classes which operated up until October last year. S1-4 were reminded of their stations in PSE classes last week. You should stand quietly in line until the signal to dismiss is given. Please take your jacket and bag. If the drill goes smoothly it should mean that we can go straight to a slightly early lunch break. Thank you.

College – Thursday (J Davidson)
For those who are scheduled to attend college on Thursday, this will go ahead as normal. Please collect bus passes today (Wednesday) from the school office.

Library Closure (J Davidson)
The library will be used for assessment arrangements so will be closed to pupils. All S6 who have a study period should use the IT Hub or Dinner hall. There may be cases when S6 can use a classroom in a department but this must be confirmed by the PTC as some rooms are also being used for Assessment Arrangements.

English Homework Club (Mrs Patton)
English Homework Club is cancelled this week.

Ramadan 2021 (KHS Equalities Group)
Ramadan Kareem KHS! We would like to support everyone observing Ramadan this year. We realise Ramadan can be a difficult yet reflective time for Muslims so we would like to offer you a little bit of a sanctuary using Ms Mahr’s room in the first instance! If you need some quiet time for reflection or just need some time away from the food in the dinner hall, please head up to C12 during lunch and break for the duration of Ramadan and Ms Mahr will help you out! You are more than welcome to bring friends who are not fasting as well.

If any pupils feel as though they would like to pray starting from Thursday 15 April there will be a room available. The room is located next to Mr Allan’s office, where the operations room is. If you walk into there and instead of walking straight you turn to your second right, there is a small room where a prayer mat will be laid out and there is a sink to do wudhu as well. There will also be tasbih’s and Surah Yaseen available too. If anyone can’t find the room or has any questions, please ask Ramiza (S5) or Alisha (S2), thanks!
