Weekly Information – 31st January

Dear parent/carer,

Another busy week has gone by and we are now at the end of January. This week across the school we have been exploring themes of perseverance and determination, and learning about the traditions of the lunar new year!

Nursery Applications

A reminder that applications for 3 and 4 year old places in nursery for 2025/26 should be completed by midnight today (31st Jan) to be included in the first placing rounds:

P7 Photograph

The Courier and Evening Telegraph will again be running their Last Class Supplements featuring P7 pupils/classes and we would like to send them a picture of our P7 class to appear in the paper.

The special edition will then be released on the following dates:

You should have received a permission form for including your child in this photograph, if you have missed this or do not wish your child to be included please contact the school office.

P7 Transitions

Illness and absence

A reminder that if your child has been sick or has diarrhoea they should stay off school for 48 hours from the last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting.

Junior Saints Dance

Dear Parent or Carer,
 
Junior Saints are offering pupils across P1-7 the opportunity to engage in a block of dance lessons delivered by their qualified dance union team. The sessions start on the 6th February and run until the 3rd of April at a cost of £36 for the block. The sessions will take place in their newly refurbished dance studio and are set to be great fun.

Active Schools

Weekly Information – 17th January

Dear parent/carer,

Another busy week has gone by! Our classes have been working on new topics and settling in to the Spring term. This week at assembly the classes shared their learning with each other and we found out about some of the children’s wider achievements outside of school.

Committees

Pupils in our school will be working together over the coming weeks in our school committees. These groups will work together to promote enterprise, technology and look after our school environment.

Running & Art Clubs

Our P7 volunteers did a wonderful job supporting our younger pupils at the running club and art club today – well done to everyone involved!

Medication reminder
If your child is prescribed a new medication which needs to be kept or administered in school please contact the school office so we can make appropriate arrangements for this.

Weekly Information – January 10th 2025

We have been delighted to welcome all the children back to school after the Christmas break – it has been a lovely start to the new term! We hope all of the families in our community had a lovely winter break – we are looking forward to working together in 2025!

Wednesday Football

Our Wednesday football club will resume after school on Wednesday of next week (Wednesday 15th Jan).

Timetable Change

Due to a timetable change P6/7 no longer need to come to school wearing PE kit on Monday mornings – they can bring PE kit with them to change into.

Weekly Information – September 13th 2024

Halloween Disco:

Balmerino Primary Parent Council are hoping to host a Halloween Disco on Friday 1st November at 5.30 – 7pm at the Morison Duncan Hall. This will be a family friendly party for your child where you are invited to come and join the fun in Halloween fancy dress. The cost will be £2.50 per child (in advance) or £3 on the door, which includes entry to the fun filled disco, a juice and a bag of sweets. There will also be a bake sale at the party and Pick And Mix available to buy. Please note every child must be accompanied by an adult and the party is for under 12s only.

There has been an interest from parents for more events run by the parent council, however we can only host these events with the support and help from the school community. Therefore please do let us know by Friday 20th September if you would be interested in registering your interest for the Halloween Disco. Please note the event will only take place if we have enough people signed up.

General Permissions/Annual Data Check

A reminder that if you haven’t already handed in your child’s general permission form and annual data check form to do so as soon as possible. It is important to return them to us every year to make sure your contact details are up to date should we need to contact you in an emergency.

Parent Volunteers
We would welcome parent volunteers who would be free to support our classes during visits to the woods. The times for this are:
P1-3: Mondays
P4-5: Thursdays
P6-7: Fridays
