Outdoor Learning

We are well located for outdoor education opportunities. There is a large grassed area for the children to enjoy, with a trim trail, a wooden train and arbour  which was the result of a Lottery Grant. The Eco work of the school and outdoor learning are priorities, and we work closely with Village in Bloom (currently Aberdour is awarded Gold!).

Each class has its own ‘planter’ in the school garden where they plant and harvest vegetables and herbs. The school grounds are also home to a polytunnel, a wildlife garden and a wooded area with two ponds. The Nursery children spend regular time in our woodlands for ‘Forest Kindergarten’ and on Silver Sands beach.  Aberdour Primary has an abundance of outside space for the children to enjoy.

We have added some wonderful brightly coloured benches to the playground. All the children were asked to choose from a selection, with the most popular being purchased.

One of our talented Parents painted a mural on the wall in the playground. A great feature which the children all love.

In March 2021 children created a sensory garden in our school grounds for all pupils to access and use.  The children got inspiration for this space by visiting the Sensory Garden in the village. The children made use of recyclable materials to create the garden.
