One Planet Picnic

On Wednesday 19th September our school held a special event for the opening of our outdoor classroom, The Inside Outside Eco Pod and our one planet picnic.

The foods or ingredients were all local, seasonal or ethically sourced. There were bananas and strawberries with chocolate, flavoured milkshakes, pavlova, smoothies and much more.

Some guests came like the provost, Tony Bragg and parents. There were free sausages and burgers and the parents had a barbeque.  We sat on mats with our food. We had 3 tickets to spend on the food.  Every class had prepared a snack. The provost cut the ribbon to open the Inside Outside Eco Pod. I showed Tony Bragg and the Provost around the Inside Outside Eco Pod. The speakers were led in by Jordan Montgomery.

The opening of Inside Outside Eco Pod

Yesterday the provost came to our school to open the inside outside eco pod and our one planet picnic.  Our one planet picnic was all about local, seasonal and ethically produced foods.  High school pupil Jordan Montgomery came and piped us in with his bag pipes, some people spoke and the provost cut the ribbon. Miss MacAulay and a few pupils put the sign on the gate. There was a BBQ for the parents, we got all different kind of fruit foods and they were all yummy! The rain came on and we got soaked and so did all the mats that we sat on and the tables.

Primary 5N raise money for WWF Blue Mile!

In Primary 5N we have been learning that our rivers and oceans are remarkable places. Without them, there would be no life on Earth.  They provide us with water to drink and food to eat. They’re home to an astounding array of fish, animal and plant life.  But our water habitats are under severe threat from dangers like climate change and pollution.  Through The Blue Mile, WWF is raising money to protect these amazing environments.

Since we have been going to swimming lessons, we set ourselves the challenge to swim a mile during all the swimming lessons in return for sponsorship from family and friends.  Congratulations to those who raised money for this worthwhile cause!
