Golden Time

At golden time primary 7 have to go round all the classes and ask all the pupils what they want to do we have things like helping in the nursery and infants, craft, tennis, ICT, table tennis, netball, boxercise and bowling so it is pretty fun. We ask all the pupils to put their hand up to choose what they want to do it is very fun going round all the classes and asking then what they want to do because it is good to see what everybody likes to do we also have a golden cafe which primary 1 to primary 3 can go to and that’s what we do at golden time.

Safer Internet Day

Primary 4 pupils had a group discussion about their online responsibilities and rights. Then we compared our online rights and responsibilities to our class charter only to find out that they are very similar! Next Primary 4 pupils completed ‘ A safer internet day quiz’ for which they got all the questions right!  It’s safe to say that P4s are very knowledgeable about how to keep themselves safe when using the internet!

Health Week

We have been enjoying health week in Primary 3.

We had talks about toothbrushing and handwashing.  We found out that haribos have 3 tubs of sugar in them.  We have to brush all of our teeth, twice a day, especially the back ones.  We learnt how to wash our hands properly.  We have to wash our hands after we have touched animals, after we have been to the toilet, after playing outside, after coughing or sneezing and before eating.

We tried taekwondo and karate.  \we learned all different kinds of kicks and punches.  We also tried some blocking moves.  We tried to flying kicks, they were fantastic fun.

We did some dancing.  We all did our best hip hop moves.  We did basketball dancing and boxing dancing.  The dancing was awesome.

We had a football training session.  We dribbled around the cones.  We had to walk backwards around the cones.  Then we all played a real game of football.    It was brilliant.

Health week is excellent fun!

Them Bones…

P2 are learning all about our bodies.  We have learned about external body parts and their functions.  Now we are learning about internal body parts.  We were thinking about bones and why we have them.  We worked in groups to make skeletons with moving arms and legs!  Here is what we know about bones:

The bones keep our brain safe – Charlie

Bones keep your body nice and straight – Morgan

The bones keep our hearts and lungs safe – Conor

Bones help us stay up and not be all wobbly – Callum

Bones help you move – Amy

Bones are soft on the inside but hard on the outside – Abi

Global Children’s Challenge

Primary 7 are doing a challenge called the global Children’s Challenge. it is a challenge to get your steps as high as you can. We are currently 347 and our current average step count is 17,315. It is a good thing to do because it gets the whole class involved. Our best day was Monday 15th October  with 26,885. We have really enjoyed the challenge. We are in dover at the moment and we don’t have a lot of time left. We have travelled all over the world with our step counts!

Health Week

During Health week, we did lots of different types of sport activities like Cheer leading, Tennis, Rugby, a workout with chest heart and stroke Scotland and found out about different birds with Birds Of Prey. We were taken to tennis by Chris and it was fun. We played doubles matches. We were split into 2 teams to win the most games.

We also played Rugby as our first activity and had lots of fun!

We also went to cheerleading and learned the chant L-E-T-S-G-O lets go, lets go!

After cheerleading we went to the birds of prey and Lots of people held Charlie the owl because he was so cute! We learned about all of the birds and about hibernation and what they eat! It was a great week and the whole school enjoyed it!

The opening of the Inside Outside Eco Pod

On Wednesday 19th September the provost came to the opening of the inside outside eco pod and our one planet picnic.  Jordan from Falkirk High School piped us in with the bagpipes. There was a BBQ for the parents in the quiet area and tasters round on the tarmac. There were smoothies, milkshakes, strawberries and chocolate bananas, potato salad, carrots, pickles, kebabs and pavlova’s . All of the foods were made with local, seasonla or ethically produced foods and were yummy!

Brilliant Bananas and Super Strawberries dipped in Fair-trade chocolate

Ingredients

1.  First we got 2 bananas and we cut them up into about 7 slices.

2.  Then we did the same with strawberries but we cut them in half.

3. After that we stuck cocktail sticks in them.

4. Then we got Dairy milk fair-trade chocolate and broke it up and melted it in the microwave for 4 minutes.

5. Next we dipped the fruit into the chocolate and then we left them to dry.

6.  Now they are ready to enjoy!

The strawberries we used were from Perthshire and the bananas are fair-trade.  We made sure our peelings and fruit waste were put into our brown compost bins!
