Primary 5N raise money for WWF Blue Mile!

In Primary 5N we have been learning that our rivers and oceans are remarkable places. Without them, there would be no life on Earth.  They provide us with water to drink and food to eat. They’re home to an astounding array of fish, animal and plant life.  But our water habitats are under severe threat from dangers like climate change and pollution.  Through The Blue Mile, WWF is raising money to protect these amazing environments.

Since we have been going to swimming lessons, we set ourselves the challenge to swim a mile during all the swimming lessons in return for sponsorship from family and friends.  Congratulations to those who raised money for this worthwhile cause!

P5N New Topic

We are going to be learningabout Ancient Egypt this term.  I know some facts about Egypt already.  The pharaohs built their own pyramid so when they died they were buried with their jewels.  Egypt is in Africa.  King Tut   might have died of a broken leg.  I am looking forward to this topic.  Jordan

Primary 5N Forest Pitch Entries

Primary 5N recently entered a competition to design football strips.  An area of forest in the Borders is being turned into a temporary football pitch for an art project forming part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.  Primary 5N submitted designs for the strips which could be worn by the four amateur teams taking part in the event.  The winning designs for the four football strips used during the event will be chosen from around 1,000 entries in the New Year.  We can’t wait to hear how we did!

Can you spot your design Primary 5N?  Around about Craig’s feet!  They are there!

*Going to Swimming Lessons*

Primary 5N have been going to swimming lessons at the Mariner Centre every Tuesday.

At our swimming lessons we are put into 3 separate groups.  We are taught lots of differnt strokes and practice them several times in each lesson.

John our swimming teacher teaches us how to breathe under the water for a short length of time.
