Curriculum for Excellence

 

Curriculum for Excellence: our school follows the national Curriculum for Excellence. The curriculum has 8 areas :

  • Numeracy/Maths
  • Literacy (incl Gaelic, English and French)
  • Health and Wellbeing (including Physical Education, P.E.)
  • Expressive Arts
  • Technology
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Religious and Moral Education

After school Clubs

Sgoil Shiaboist offered a wide range  of afterschool clubs from January – March 2026 which included:

  • Basketball
  • Football
  • Unihoc
  • Board games & Lego
  • Multisports
  • Baking/Cooking
  • Badminton
  • Pool & table tennis
  • Art

The Clubs were open to all children from P1 – P7.

Fundraising for charity

Each year the children raise money for two charities, these charities are Bethesda Care home, a local nursing home with carers for individuals who may need extra care, the elderly or their Hospice looks after those who are receiving palliative care.

The second charity is Children in Need, the nationally run charity event.  Donations to this are normally made through the “Just Giving” page for Shawbost School.

Sports Committee

Our Sports committee meet regularly to discuss upcoming sporting events and planning future events.

Shawbost school recently won the Sportscotland Award! the school has achieved the Silver Award.

Daily Mile Children Fit for Life Award: the school has also been awarded the Daily Mile Award; this is a new award that is designed to recognise and celebrate schools that have fully embraced the Daily Mile in their setting. We are now one of 22 schools across Scotland who are listed on their website!
