Parts Apprentice required

An opportunity has arisen for the full time position of Parts Apprentice based at our West Outlet in Busby, Glasgow. As a Double A/John Deere trained apprentice your focus will be on providing parts for machines used by golf courses, sports grounds, local authorities, estates and contractors. Your apprenticeship will teach you how to manage John Deere’s sophisticated parts systems, run a profitable retail parts business, market goods effectively, understand the value of John Deere products and the importance of selling on quality rather than on price. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will gain the Level 2 Retailer Standard qualification. Young WEIR-WISE: Discovering Engineering with S2 Girls

The University of Strathclyde, in collaboration with the Weir Group, are delighted to be offering the virtual Young WEIR-WISE programme again in 2022 for female school pupils in S2. Participants will hear from staff at the University and colleagues from The Weir Group who will provide an insight into studying and working in the field of engineering. They will also be issued in advance with a Young WEIR-WISE ‘Lab Kit’ to take part remotely in practical activities which staff will guide them through during the online sessions. We received excellent feedback from pupils who attended the virtual 2021 programme and we ask that you bring this to the attention of S2 girls, particularly those that have a talent for mathematics or physical sciences. NHS virtual work experience day

The NHS Allied Healthcare are holding a virtual work experience day on the 3rd October, for students who are specifically interested in the following careers: Nursing, Midwifery, Paramedicine, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Radiography, Prosthetics and Orthotics, Speech and language therapy and Pharmacy. During the work experience day, you will follow 2 patients from their initial presentation to recovery. You will observe the healthcare professionals as they interact with the patients and each other. You will have an opportunity to ask questions and gain knowledge through teaching. This will help you to make an informed career decision as well as learn about how healthcare professionals work together as part of a multidisciplinary team. Each work experience day is completely different and you will be able to build on their knowledge of NHS careers as they see different patient cases and healthcare professionals work in a variety of settings, such as hospital and community. You will also receive certificates as evidence of having participated in the work experience programme. Places are £10 a day to cover administrative costs. SQA Modern Apprenticeship Program 2021 We are inviting applications for a two-year Modern Apprenticeship in Business Administration at the Scottish Qualifications Authority. We are recruiting six young people to join us in August, and the programme offers the opportunity to develop valuable work-based skills and experience from day one. Successful candidates will gain valuable experience over two 12-month placements within SQA, while also working towards a Scottish Vocational Qualification in Business and Administration, and a Higher National Certificate in Business. The programme is open to young people aged between 16 and 19, and up to 29 for any disabled and/or care-experienced applicants. Work Experience: Giffnock Soccer Academy

Giffnock Soccer Academy are running summer camps throughout the summer holiday starting from Monday 28th June for 5 weeks.  They are willing to take students from our school to act as coaches. The camp times are Monday – Thursday Half day – 9am-12pm or 1pm – 4pm Full day – 9am-4pm Coaches will start at 8.30am to set up equipment.  Students over 15 will need to be PVG’d. Work Experience: Anderson’s Landscaping

There are two places available for a work experience with Anderson’s Landscaping, a company that carries out landscaping projects in clients’ gardens.  The work experience runs on the following dates: ·         Monday 28th, Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th of June from  8am-4pm ·         Monday 5th, Tuesday 6th, and Wednesday 7th July 8am-4pm.  This would be a fantastic opportunity for any pupil as landscaping a garden requires planning, working Landscaping architects, as well as artistic and creative skills.  This would also provide a good insight into how projects are managed.  If you are interested please see Miss Green or Mrs Ward.

This programme gives students a comprehensive overview of the industry and introduces them to our different business areas. They’ll have a chance to participate in seminars, interactive presentations, case studies and group exercises. It’s an invaluable opportunity to begin building their network and laying the groundwork for their future. Skills Development Scotland: Help for parents and carers of school leavers

School leavers – help for parents and carers Following a very successful recent webinar, SDS is hosting another webinar for parents of pupils in S4-S6 who are planning to leave school this year. It is running on Thursday 22 April, 6:30-7:15pm and will cover the SDS support available to these young people and how to help them make decisions. This virtual event will offer parents and carers across Scotland the opportunity to find out more about supporting their child as they prepare to leave school this summer. The webinar will have information about options, next steps and how to access a wide range of SDS support. It will also have a question and answer session. JP Morgan – GenerationTech

J.P. Morgan GenerationTech is coming to Glasgow Again We are pleased to announce that GenerationTech is returning to Glasgow on Saturday 29 May – Saturday 19 Jun. GenerationTech is a virtual J.P. Morgan 3 week design-based technology challenge where your students work in teams to design a solution for a U.N. Sustainable Development Goal. They will learn new transferable aptitudes such as teamwork, communication, technology, design and presentation skills. Students will be supported by JP Morgan Technologists, to leverage technology to address a social good challenge. JP Morgan Work Experience Opportunity

This programme gives students a comprehensive overview of the industry and introduces them to our different business areas. They’ll have a chance to participate in seminars, interactive presentations, case studies and group exercises. It’s an invaluable opportunity to begin building their network and laying the groundwork for their future.
