Autumn Term

Since October break, we have started some new topics like hockey in P.E. Energy in science and Christianity in R.M.E. We have also have been doing suspenseful writing and we hope we can show you what amazing work our pupils have done. by Caleb.

I really enjoyed my writing because it was fun to come up with the gripping ideas and words. So the readers can picture them in the moment in the story. By Eilidh.

I am very proud of the writing I did and I found it tricky because I am not used to suspense writing and more used to making my writing funny instead. However I think that this suspense story is my best yet!  By Ruaridh.

I am very proud of my maths and I think I have got quite far with help form my teachers input. My answers when  adding and subtracting mixed fractions were all correct and next time I just should make sure I simplify my answers. By Caleb.

When I found we were making science paper spinners, I was very excited. You had to hold the ends of the two ropes, spin it and then pull it to let it unravel. I found it quite hard to make the paper turner. By Lily

I enjoyed making this hat and it was quite easy to make, all it took was tape and black paper. It fits my head perfectly and took no time at all. All you needed to do was cut an A4 sheet of paper into a circle then cut another piece into a long rectangle then a circular shape on the top. This was an creativity art activity on Flexi Friday. In Science we started learning about What is Energy? We had lots of fun making a paper helicopter and we learned that the kind of energy involved in this is kinetic energy. When we hold the helicopter in the air and when we dropped it, it released stored energy which is called potential energy. By Megan.

It was really cool how it spun around as it fell to the ground.  I think I was really interested in this energy topic. I learned about stored energy and potential energy.  I have been watching The Flash and I now know that when he got struck by lightening, his energy increased so much that he can run at the speed of mock 8.3.

By Elliott.

After making the paper helicopters, we then had to make a spinning disc completely on our own following the instructions.  When we spun it it had stored energy and then when it untwisted it created kinetic energy. I really enjoyed this as we had to make it ourselves and it was tricky but it worked well in the end. I had to change the size of the string so that it would work. It was fun and Mrs Thomas said that ours were great as we took time to make them and coloured them in too.

Here are some of our current wall displays that show the art we have been doing. The New York skyline was done with watercolours and mixing to get different shades of purple, then we added glitter for atmosphere.

Native American Indian Head Dress and Dream Catchers

Another watercolour project using watercolours to create head dress and dream catchers of the Native American Indians. Here is a selection of our work.

Rowan has been working very hard in completing his wonderful Native American Head dress. A very proud boy! A very proud teacher. Well done Rowan!

In RME and HWB we have been learning about forgiveness and we had fun acting out some scenarios through drama in order to see how we could react to different situations.  Here are a few photos showing the scenes.
