We enjoyed acting out Nursery Rhymes can you guess what they are?
The children have been learning about Fairtrade. The children were asked to bring things in from home that had the Fairtrade logo on it.
What do we know about Fairtrade?
“I have seen it on bananas” Bradley
“You have to be fair ” Tilly.
“It kind of means its a trade for food to go on” Alex.
We went on a walk to the local shops to look for the Fairtrade logo.
We bought bananas and chocolate from the shops with the Fairtrade logo. Then we gave them to the office ladies and our janitor Mr Stern and explained why we bought them.
What have we learned about Fairtrade?
“It is not fair if they are not getting enough pennies.” Macey
” Fairtrade means that farmers get a fair price because they work hard.” Zoe
“What Fairtrade means is that it is not fair if you don’t actually get a lot of money for all your hard work.” Alex.
“I have a bag with a Fairtrade sticker that means the farmer got a fair price.” Isla.
Blue Group Orry Walk cancelled today due to weather warnings.
 The children enjoyed celebrating Burns day with a variety of learning experiences.
We made our own tartan.
“We used cars to make checks look.” Isla
We listened to Scottish music and had great fun in the gym hall learning some Scottish dancing.
To finish Burns Day we all had a special treat of haggis, neeps and tatties to try.

We went on a number hunt at home and around the school and discovered that numbers are all around us.
Martha- “The numbers on the cupboard tells the ladies what cupboard it is. The numbers on the door let you know what class your in and so you know your age”.
Alice- “The numbers help you find your class.”
Samuel- “Numbers tell you what time it is”.
Thomas P- “You use numbers to score and if you don’t score you stay at 0”.
Anabelle- “The numbers tell people its their classroom.”
We are learning about patterns creating our own and continuing a pattern.

We had great fun making patterns in the shaving foam.

We are developing the awareness of money.
“Mummy uses money to buy carrots, chicken nuggets and broccoli.” Isla (Green A.M)

We went a trip to our local shops.
We had to get money to buy our messages.
Then we had to find the right shop! Is this where we buy fruit and vegetables for our soup and fruit/vegetable kebabs?
The children helped find the ingredients we needed from our shopping lists that we had done in nursery.
We all had pennies to pay.
When we came back from the shops we made homemade soup and vegetable kebabs.
We had real money in our role play shop. We were learning about different pennies and played a matching game.
It was tricky to match the coins.
We made coin rubbings.
