P3a2 update

We have been very busy over the past couple of weeks working hard as usual in literacy and maths 😊 We’ve had visitors in talking to us about healthy eating and designing apps. We also got to taste some Chinese food and design teapots to celebrate Chinese culture week 🍜☕️ We’ve had so much fun exploring 1980’s toys and reading comics and even created some 80’s inspired pop art 🎨

Have a lovely weekend 😊

P.S. If you haven’t already, then please return homework jotters on Monday for consolidation week.

Symmetry

We have been learning about symmetry this week. We have looked at symmetry in real-life, in shapes, patterns and pictures.

** 2 week homework**

Please complete the research activity from your homework grid – Choose an 80s icon to research and create a poster or PowerPoint about them. We would love the children to prepare a short solo talk about their icon to go along side their slides/posters etc.  This is due on Thursday 6th Feb please.

Could the homework jotters please be sent in this Friday as next week is a consolidation and assessment week and we will update them.

Thank  you 🙂

Literacy fun this Week

Such a busy few days learning about conjunctions, using our Big Cat books and working on our ve sound.

Helping at Home :-)

We’re working on a couple of key skills this week and if you would like to support your child at home you could do the following.

Mental maths – adding/subtracting in tens e.g. 17 + 30, count on in tens 27, 37, 47.  Extension –  17 + ? = 50  count on in tens to 47 then add on the 3 units = 33. Working backwards, do the opposite — 12 + ? = 20, mentally calculate 20-12 to get the answer.

Literacy – Grammar to further improve writing skills. Ask your child to come up with a sentence using conjunctions; and/but. E.g. It is raining outside but I don’t have a jacket.  Extension – use because, while, so.

Thank you!!

Term 2 – Overview

Miss O’Neill here…

I’m still having some trouble getting access to the blog to create posts of my own, but Miss Carrick has kindly let me post some of our learning from her account.

Here are some photos of us using our measuring skills to bake shortbread and weigh some parcels. We have also been looking for right angles and practising directional language by doing some computer coding.

We have loved taking part in technology challenges too!

I hope to be up and running properly soon 😄
