Buoyancy

Today we started our buoyancy topic in science. In our groups we were given a piece of tin foil and the goal was to make it sink when placed in water. We worked together to come up with a strategy to use and then tested this out altogether. We realised that if we crumpled our piece into a ball it would float because of the air trapped inside. If we put in a flat piece of tin foil it sunk to the bottom because it is more dense than water. We now know that buoyancy is a force which pulls objects upwards.
